Hotel Insomnia

Daegu Central Area Daegu|0.13km from Toyoko Inn Daegu Dongseongno
This is a very new modern hotel about 4 minutes walk from Chuoji subway station. (Classifiedly, it was a love hotel ‥‥ but it felt like an ordinary city hotel. Also, it is not new even if you look at the picture on Google MAP) About 40 minutes by bus from Daegu Airport, It is about 3 minutes from the nearest bus stop. Is it located in Harajuku in Daegu? A lot of young children are walking in fashion. The front desk is 2F. Check-in was 18:00, so I had a suitcase until 18:00 and I was sightseeing. When I checked in, I presented my passport and it was a normal good response in English conversation. I'm going to the room with a card key. The room is simple and smooth and the normal double bed size height is low and I like it. (The bed had a built-in system that would warm up) Amenities are normally level, but there is no security box and closet. (I booked a deluxe room this time) Heating and cooling, TV uses LG systems and can be controlled by TV remote control 1, and three types of smartphone charging cables (Lightning, There is USB Type-C, microUSB) and it is helpful. There are water, stick coffee, coke and energy drinks in the refrigerator, but they were all free. Meals are included and you can get a coupon at check-in. Breakfast time is 7:30 〜 10:30 and the venue is served at the cafeteria in front of the front desk. I had a hot sandwich that was made by a lady who made me a hot sandwich. Drinks are usually colored 々, fruits, salads, regular western menu and Korean home cooking are very rich in variety, so you can put your hands on various things and be full. There is a shower next to the toilet (no bathtub) and there is no shower curtain, so no matter how careful you take a shower, the floor of the toilet will get wet to some extent. The bed roll was a gown, and the feeling of the bed and the height of the pillow were privately suitable and I could sleep well until the morning. Wi-hi has become a shared area, but it was stable in the room and was able to use it at a reasonable speed. Most of the guests were Koreans and several Japanese, and they did not meet Westerners. The building was new, clean and quiet, all of the location, service and cost performance were high.

I booked via Hotels.com. The first impression wasn’t good due to the unpleasant smell, however, the lady at the front desk was super nice and they placed various perfume at the lobby so that guest can use, which made me to expect the room condition more. The room was big, there was LG Styler aka steam closet or air dresser. Amenities that I didn’t expect much were quite neat. Even though the room has that old and musty smell, so far it was okay compared to the price. However, which frightened us was a huge mirror at the restroom. The mirror almost fully-covered the wall beside the big bathtub. I and my friend wondered why it should be big this much, and why it should be here. We checked if the mirror is transparent –which means it’s two way— so that someone can observe us or has installed hidden camera beyond the fake mirror. We used our fingers to detect it and yes, the gap between my fingers was narrow enough to believe that IT IS A TWO WAY MIRROR. What really drove us uncomfortable was where it was –just beside bathtub and shower booth, and the front side of the toilet. The first pic is the mirror at the bathroom, and the second one is the mirror at the back of washstand which was in the room. We wanted to change room immediately, but we checked in late and too tired to find other room to stay, so we just stay the night and checked out early in the next morning. It was early summer we sweated but we couldn’t take shower, instead, we barely washed our arms and legs at the washstand. We searched other reviews and seemed there weren’t such a huge mirror in the bathroom.

Located in Chilgok City, it is very accessible, but due to a typical motel, the check-in time is too late for travelers who go to bed early.

Overall, it was clean and good value for money, but there was a hole in the wall and the paint was peeling off and powder was falling on the floor, so I changed the room, but there was a big stain on the wall, so I tried to change it, but I was tired and bothered, so I just didn't change. I slept well and the free breakfast was okay, but the simple breakfast served every Wednesday was cup ramen and white bread and tofu sushi, but there was no kimchi and leftovers. It would be better not to have breakfast on Wednesdays.
