We didn’t look to the hotel for more than just a bed for the night, so didn’t check out the other facilities. The bed was comfortable, the shower was nice, and the room was set up in a modern and pleasant way. The room has most of what you need but it is very small, with very little space to even set down a suitcase. I would have preferred access to a full size ironing board rather than a desktop one.

Great Southern Hotel is diagonally opposite to the Southern Cross station, where the Skybus to and ftom airport, picks and send travellers to city. Tour groups' pickup point. It has a restaurant attached to the hotel. Room is really basic and not serviced, but clean to start with.

You should not book this hotel on Thursdays or Fridays because they have a very noisy dance club downstairs which plays ridiculously loud music until 2 am in the morning. The loud noise is accompanied by a bass sound shaking through the walls. This club sound makes it impossible to sleep when the club is in operation. When I complained the staff told me I should have known about it because they advertise it as having a dance club and gave me a pair of ear plugs. The ear plugs made no difference and frankly no one could of expected hotel rooms to be booked out subject to the level of noise I experienced. I would never book in this hotel again even though its location, cleanliness and service are good. BE AWARE CANNOT SLEEP IF YOU BOOK A ROOM ON THURSDAYS OR FRIDAYS.
