We spent three nights at Gopalan. The first night was a bit shaky, but not because of the hotel. There was an intermittent power outage in Borobodur. Dadang, the night manager, calmly helped us and even upgraded our room. His calming influence was a sign of things to come. Maria, the hotel manager, arranged our trip to the Borobodur Temple with a fantastic guide, Udin. She arranged Javanese massages with two expert therapists. Our driver, Teddy, arranged by Maria for our rides back and forth to Yogyakarta, was sort of a mini tour guide himself. Room was nice, a bit spartan, but fine. WiFi worked nicely, Good swimming pool. Solid cable TV. Restaurant was surprisingly good for both breakfast and dinner. Try the avocado with egg for breakfast, and the Indonesian noodles were excellent for dinner. And you're out in the country, with a working farm out your front door, and just a 20 minute walk to the Temple. Recommend highly for those seeking a relaxed atmosphere and adventure amid the Indonesian noise and pollution. Rustic, but pretty sophisticated. Great spot for walking.

If you are to visit the Borobudur site, this is one of the best places to stay as it's literally 100m away from the main gate (Regular visit). If you are planning on the Sunrise or Sunset tour, they provide free transportation to the gate (This gate is located around 1.5Kms away from the guest house). Staff was simply amazing. I have to especially mention Himatul who was really helpful in providing vital information related to the site/tour in general. Additionally, she has accompanied us during the visit which kept our minds at ease. As per the room, it had, 1 King size bed, 1 single bed which was more than enough for us. The room had air conditioning and an attached bathroom. They have provided a decent free breakfast with a satisfactory portion of Nasi Goreng with Guava juice(I loved it!) + they have free wifi. + rooms are air conditioned. + they have attached bathrooms + there's a common area to have your food - They don't have their own restaurant, but there are many places to buy local food including street food. + There's a supermarket/mart nearby. + Staff was super friendly and helpful. + Very close to the Borobudur site (100m to the main gate). + Free transportation for Sunset/Sunrise tours.

It's been a long time since it's built, so there's a lot of slapstick, but if you think you're just sleeping, there's no problem. Wi-Fi is flying in the room, and there are minimal amenities. The hot water in the shower also came out, and the night was quiet and the starry sky was really beautiful. It is delicious to choose from about 4 kinds of breakfast. It is close to the Borobudur ruins. You can go on foot. There are rice shops and India Mart around the hotel, so there is no problem. I think the staff is only good and the hotel is suitable for the price.

I needed a cheap place to stay for visiting Borobudur and this place met my demands. It’s super close to the temple entrance and a cheap place to get your own room. The place itself is nothing special (except the back patio where you can sit and read is quite nice), but the staff is incredible. Warm, friendly and genuinely caring. Also, the place might seem a bit run down, but it was clean and had no bed bugs, so for that price it’s a pretty good choice. I would stay here again.

Me and my wife just stayed in Amrta Borobudur a few days ago. We were driving and on our way back from Yogya to Jakarta after visiting a family. And we thought staying a night or two in Borobudur area would be nice. We were quite flexible on timing and didnt really have itinerary. After going around Borobudur area, looking at one hotel to another, we found this small hotel, close to entrance of Borobudur temple and with a great view. My wife checked the review on Tripadvisor and felt its a good hotel for us. And we really love this hotel. Its quite small; only having around 10 rooms and cottages. But it's strategically located; near Borobudur, not far from small traditional restaurants. And it had padi fields view. We chose Arjuna room (or shoukd I say cottage?), which was quite large and had its own terrace facing padi fields. The interior of the room was designed using java traditional style but the amenities were modern. Bathroom was large and hot water ran well. I would just like to suggest that they put glass in the shower instead of curtain. I was quite amazed with their attention to detail of the building. They also had a lounge with nice view. On one side you could see padi fields, on other side you could see coconut trees, and another side facing nice pool. We really enjoyed our stay there. The staffs were also very kind and attentive. We would like to thank mas Dani who was very helpfull and cared. With staffs like these, I believe many visitors would love to stay there. It's very sad that the pandemi has hit Indonesia tourism industry very badly. During our trip in Java, we were always the only guest in the hotel, including in this hotel. I really hope they will survive this challenge. So that many people would have a chance to visit and stay in this beautiful hotel and experience their hospitality. For us, for sure we would like to return again someday...

The external environment of the hotel is very good, and the privacy is also very good. The best thing is the private swimming pool, which is very clean. If it wasn't because of two things that affected my mood, I would give a good evaluation: 1. The situation at the time of check-in: it was clearly shown that there were two beds when booking the room, but there was only one bed after check-in. After repeated communication, Ctrip made up for the hotel The difference in the price of the extra bed was enough to stay. It was almost ten o'clock in the evening, and I was tired and hungry; 2. Problems occurred during checkout: US dollars and RMB were not accepted at checkout, and there was a problem with card swiping. I swiped the card twice and deducted money twice, but the hotel only received it once. After a long communication, the hotel promised to refund the extra deductions within 15 days I hope that after a few days, there will be no cross-border communication for this extra money. The room fee of more than 2,500 per night, check-in and check-out have problems, it should not be. In particular, this day happens to be New Year's Eve, which affects the mood very much.

I feel the hotel overall was excellent. Great base to explore Jogja and Borobudur. Some highlights: 1) Excursions: we booked a Jogja day trip and Borobudur excursion through the hotel. A bit expensive but for our first time in Indonesia we felt worth the price. In fact, we think the hotel should do a better job advertising or featuring these services. The tours all include VIP tickets and guides, which is especially great at Prambanan and Borobudur temple. Just one thing to be aware is that traffic in Jogja can be bad so leave extra time for that. The driver was super nice and experienced, he made us feel right at home with cold towels and bottled water at every stop. 2) Hotel amenities: we were a huge fan of the new lagoon pool, and the spa. I also think the restaurant was a highlight. On our first morning, we were able to order ala carte breakfast since there was not so many guests. Quality of the food overall was very nice, with mix of Indonesian and western selections. 3) Rooms: I loved the unique design. I do not think I stayed anywhere like this before. Climbing the stairs can take some getting used to but is part of the experience. Try to leave at least 1-2 days to relax on the resort property. Next time I will want to stay for a bit longer. Even three days felt rushed Thanks for a very special trip over the Chinese New Year

The most awesome resort in Magelang, best view and best service from the staff, feeling like your own home. The resort is located in the village only 3 km from borobudur temple. The road is extremely steep, as you can only park your vehicle at the parking lot, and using their car to bring you to the villa. We are staying at first at Villa Diponegoro with amazing architecture inside, huge villa, and amazing view. However, the pool's water is cloudy after some treatment, so they upgraded us to Merbabu Villa with 3 rooms. And this villa even more amazing. The view is extraordinary, we can see the Borobudur temple very clear and the sunrise as well. The pool is very deep, so be careful with your children. The regulation is not strict, so you don't need to pay for extra pax. The food is tasty with low price. And the most calming and happiest are the really helpful staffs. They provide us with 2 private staffs that can help all of our needs, even to buy traditional food downtown. Maybe I have to say that this resort is much much better than Plataran and Aman Djiwo with comparable price or even slightly lower price. My suggestion is to choose Vila Merbabu or Villa Kayangan for best view. Villa Menoreh also offer a good view. But for guests who like indoor more, you chan choose Diponegoro Villa as it has the most amazing craftmenship for the architecture and also larger indoor area. Surely will come back again to this Villa with my whole family.

As always, to maintain the level of aman, there is a special person to pick up and pick up luggage from the plane. The ritual check-in experience is superb. The Indonesian fried rice and noodles are especially recommended. As soon as you go out, you must be cleaned and your items returned to the room. Although it is the rainy season, the sun is shining in the morning for half a day, and the night pavilion is really content to listen to the rain. The hotel has a variety of activities such as watching Borobudur sunrise, horse riding and picnics, the service is good, and of course the fees are higher. It is said that since February 6, the hotel will be renovated behind closed doors. After all, it has been in operation for 22 years. I look forward to the new look and the better.

The hotel staff was very nice. They drove us around to find ATMs that could successfully withdraw cash, took us to Borobudur and helped to arrange the itinerary with the staff according to our needs. Due to problems with the Yogyakarta train booking system, we were unable to pay for train tickets online. The hotel lady also helped to pay for the booking with her own account. The hotel environment is good, it is considered a luxury hotel in the local area, not far from Borobudur, but the hotel still needs to arrange a shuttle bus, which is slightly expensive. Of course, if you install grab yourself, you don't need a hotel car.

How good it is to go to an Indonesian hotel that has a star rating that matches its facilities. So many times in the last few weeks we have stayed at hotels that SAY they are five-star but are nowhere close to that. Sarasvati Hotel is listed as 3-star, and 3-star it is. It is spectacularly well located within walking distance of Borobudur Temple, there are lots of restaurants within easy walking distance, and there is a convenience store across the street. The rooms are clean but dated, and set around a quiet courtyard. It would be good to have a desk and chair, and easy access to a powerpoint in the room. I was able to use a table in the dining area for this though. Breakfast was a very pleasant surprise. As a boutique property, I expected there may be little on offer, and certainly not buffet-style. I was wrong. There was tea & coffee, juices, fresh fruit, rice, noodles, a chicken dish, a vegetable dish, a few local goodies, and bread for toasting (butter and 2 jams). There was also an egg chef for made-to-order eggs. My only criticism would be that used dishes were not cleared from the table promptly (or without having to ask). The staff was friendly, and courteous, and provided some good information about the changes to viewing at the Borobudur Temple. The gardens and pool were terrific. Rooms are on two levels, so try for the ground floor level if you do not want to climb stairs.

Very close to Borobudur, not booked at the Net Red Hotel, breakfast is OK, there are four choices, fruit bowls and drinks. However, Borobudur personally does not recommend to go, it does not mean anything, the photo can not be photographed, the time to go in January, may predict the reason, the sunrise did not see, the fog is not as good as Prambanan. Personally feel that sunrise and sunset are better at the top of the mountain, as well as volcanic clouds, the brand is too expensive and not worth it. There are free bicycles and motorcycles to rent.
