|4.05km from downtownThe price is good and the location is near the MRT with laundromat options nearby. But I would seriously consider spending a bit more for a cheap hotel.
The cleanliness of the place is atrocious. The bed had hair and the sides of the pod had quite dirty dust in them. It’s not terrible but given how small the pod is, it only intensified the cleanliness problem. I even had flies somehow in my pod. The most important thing is the aircon! If you close the pod for privacy, it’s extremely hot and stuffy as the cooling system inside was weaker than a fan. No towels are provided too.

|2.78km from downtownPlease read - IMPORTANT about Campbell Inn: My 3 tourist friends from overseas have encountered potential scamming of tourists at this Campbell Inn. They have lodged a police report and contact Singapore Tourism Board and CASE in regards to this case. Hope by doing so, it will prevent the owner of Campbell Inn from cheating other tourists and disgracing Singapore as a safe country again. My 3 friends were ignorant of the various Google negative reviews of Campbell Inn and booked two nights with the Inn. However it seems that they have been scammed. It was their first visit to Singapore and she emailed and they tried to call the Inn several times without getting a proper response from the Inn. They wanted to inform the Inn about the late timing that they would be reaching the Inn. However as the Inn was uncontactable for a proper response, the 3 tourists decided to check-in physically at the premises. The Inn was obviously unsafe as it was occupied by alot of migrant workers in the premises and look more like a illegal foreign worker dormitory. The 3 tourists were initially informed by the receptionist that their room were given to other workers and were even asked to stay together with the male workers in the same room. They realized that these workers were wearing scantily (only sarongs) in the room and some of them appears to be drunk. The 3 tourists refused and left the Inn immediately feeling the whole situation was not right and unsafe. However they were left stranded on the streets in the middle of the night. My friends credit card was deducted for the nights which they did not stay in the Inn. They believed that the Inn management have planned this scam in such a manner that they can easily cheat the tourists who did not know the actual ground situation of the Inn. Also suspect several of these workers may be overstayers without legal work permits as they seems to be staying there for a long time. The Inn is definitely not a safe place for tourists to stay in. The practice of this Inn not only causes distress to the overseas visitors but also shame us Singaporeans which our country projected a very safe reputation to visitors from all over the world. The matter has been reported to relevant Singapore authorities.

Chinatown
Singapore
|0.66km from downtownIt has a great location for a tourist. Walking distance from the metro station. Plenty of restaurants around. The space is really tiny. I got a single room and I had to jump on the table to access the bed. The boy kindly changed my room to an easier bed access. The carpet was dirty and the bathroom average. There is no ventilation, I felt lack of oxigen. You can hear any conversation as if they were in your room. The bathroom was in another floor...Well, I guess Singapore accommodation is hell expensive and this is what I get for this money.

|0.79km from downtownI stayed here in early December 2022 for a few nights. In general, this hostel is very conveniently located. It is only 4-minute walk from the Downtown Line MRT station. It is the same station that has the closest ATMs. The hostel requires you to pay your balance using cash. If you want to pay by card, there is an additional 3% charge and you'd have to walk to their sister hostel to use their card machine. The sister site is on another street but they claim it's just a 5-minute walk. Also, if you want to print anything or use a microwave, you'd have to walk across the street to the Chic Hostel to do so since this one doesn't have it. There is a fridge but no microwave. The good thing is that they do your laundry, within the same day if you tell them to, for $12. The dorms on the 4th floor did not have a lock on the door so it didn't feel secure from anyone else who may decide to wonder up there. They did have a key card for the individual lockers though. There's only one outlet by your bed so I'd recommend getting an adapter with multiple USB ports or something. The 4th and 3rd floors share a 2-stall shower and toilet combo which was a tight squeeze and a bit moldy, which probably cannot be helped with such humid climates. Only bodywash was available in the showers. Each toilet come with its own handheld bidet. I just wished that the restrooms had paper towels to dry your hands. I did like that each bed had its own TV with Netflix and headphones (even though I never used it). The A/C runs all night which is great. I also liked that eac bed has their owne privacy curtains as well as their own drying rack and clothes hangers.

|9.8km from downtownIn curtin Singapore Reading, very close to the new site of the school, 15 minutes by bus, and close to Jin Wentai, the hotel provides continental breakfast from Monday to Friday, although the variety is very limited, but the breakfast is enough for nutrition, especially the ham is delicious, the hotel apartment room is what I see Singapore Hotel is comparison Big, there is a kitchen where you can cook kitchen utensils and tableware. The washing machine with dryer is very convenient. There are also food courts nearby, but there is a pasta restaurant downstairs in the hotel that tastes very good, and it is also very close to west coast park It is very suitable for running. house keeping is done on Tuesdays and Saturdays. It won’t be too disturbing to rest. Overall, this apartment is very good, very quiet and suitable for living. If you don’t like noisy, it’s also very difficult to book.

|0.96km from downtownModern hotel in the Duxton enclave. There are better options such as the Carlton City hotel nearby which has a more spacious room and bathtub. While pool is nice, it is an open club for public which invades privacy of hotel guests who wants to swim. Pool is rather small. Service is not that great and was told only limited to 2 bottles of water a day and there is no supermarket nearby.
Pick this hotel if you’re looking for:
- 5 stars hotels in the range of $200
- lots of food options and cafes
- photo opportunities on the infinity pool
Avoid this if you’re looking for:
- hotel near to MRT
- got to hike up Duxton hill
- nice lap pool that is private
- decent size rooms

|1.03km from downtownThe hotel is new. I like it very much. It's very close to the subway. It only takes 3 minutes to walk.
It is very close to Little India and Haji Lane. Food is available nearby.
The bed is a bit high, so little people have to climb up😛 Ha
The hotel has waiters who understand Chinese and communication is very smooth.
Will recommend friends to stay here
Remember the subway is the blue line. It’s not far from anywhere.
There are two 7-11s nearby, which are smaller.
The photos were taken at the hotel entrance and outside the hotel window😂
I didn’t take a picture of the room. Anyway, it’s the same as what you see on the website.

|3.71km from downtownArrive in Singapore late at night. I was at an age when it was difficult to stay at the airport, so I chose to lie down, but this was quite comfortable. A taxi from the airport costs $33 (including late night charges). The late-night reception was unmanned, but the self-check-in system worked well, and although it was a small space that looked like a closet, the women's 6-person room was so quiet that I thought no one was there, and the mattress and sheets were surprisingly good. It's high and I had a good night's sleep (although in the morning some people started unpacking their suitcases and there was nowhere to step) Showers and toilets are clean, but be aware that the floors can get wet. Also, perhaps because of the corona crisis, there is no breakfast service as mentioned in previous reviews.

|2.14km from downtownOh, you're in for a treat! First things first, the staff at this hotel were truly remarkable. They had this uncanny ability to anticipate my every need. It felt like they had superpowers! Whether it was arranging transportation, or simply offering a warm smile, they went above and beyond to make me feel like a VIP.
Now, let me paint a picture of the room for you. It was like stepping into a dreamy oasis. The bed was so comfortable and fluffy, it felt like I was floating on a cloud. The room itself was impeccably designed, with stylish decor and all the amenities I could ever ask for; the kitchenette, washer dryer, cutlery and more. It was the perfect sanctuary to relax and recharge after a long day. Just to add and suggest on breakfast could have more hot foods and cooking station; making scramble eggs etc.
But what really set this hotel apart was the attention to detail and the genuine care they showed towards their guests. It was evident in the personalized touches, like a handwritten note welcoming me to the hotel or the surprise treats left in my room. It made me feel valued and appreciated, like I was part of a big, happy family.
All in all, my stay at this hotel was nothing short of magical. If you're looking for a truly exceptional hotel experience, I highly recommend checking into this gem. Trust me, you won't be disappointed!

|0.95km from downtownThe cube capsule was very good value for money, considering how expensive Singapore is. We had a double capsule in a large mixed dorm, however the capsules create fantastic privacy and it didn't feel like a shared space at all. The capsules were well maintained and neat and had everything we needed. Mirror, plug etc. Shared bathrooms were cleaned regularly and were great. Location is brilliant, right in Chinatown and very close to the MRT. I would definitely stay here again. Only criticism is that the capsules and bathrooms can get verrrrrrry hot. One night, my partner couldn't sleep all night as the AC just didn't seem to be effecting our capsule. We notified the staff about this the next day and they gave us a fan for our capsule. Which was fantastic. Not great if you need silence for sleeping. Overall, a pleasant stay.

|0.91km from downtownI almost felt live giving the rating a 2 1/2 instead of a 3 because although it wasn't a poor experience it wasn't average either because of the room size and other negatives. My room was classified as a ”Superior Single Room Without Window.” Very small space to move around from end of bed to beginning of bathroom. Maybe 7 feet by 5 feet space that the bed and counter ledge doesn't take up. Not much bigger than a pod sized room; but at least you get a good-sized bathroom which was the best part of the room. Excellent shower head with plenty of hot water. The bed was comfortable even though it was difficult to get out of as you had to butt hop to make it to the end of the bed. There was more free space in the bathroom than in the bedroom. Narrow counter top for your laptop, the phone, the coffee maker, and other odds and sods. Other positives apart from the bathroom were the basic cleanliness and kind of cool gold-colored basin. Air conditioning worked well; but was difficult to control the temperature. Not much to sit on - a half-chair with basically no backing and hard on your back-end. I would recommend not staying in the type of room I stayed in for more than 2 weeks. There are larger rooms in the hotel with a window; but even the larger rooms from the photos I've seen don't have much room to move around. The hotel has a very small lobby with 2 comfortable armchairs; and not much else. There are nooks and crannies where you can store your belongings including clothers hangers on the walls and space under the bed. Definitely no closet. Another positive is the excellent modern elevator and friendly receptionists. Apart from the coffee maker there is a small refrigerator (which wasn't working during my stay) and a personal safe. I told the receptionist about the fridge not working; but he misunderstood me and thought I meant the phone not working. Another negative - during the weekdays the hotel receptionist is only on duty until 5pm. On the weekends they are on duty until much later. If you need something from the receptionist and they are off duty you have to go to the sister hotel around the corner the ”Hotel Clover - The Arts.” If you arrive when the receptionist is not on duty there is a note with a phone number to phone; but it would be helpful if they had directions to where the Hotel Clover The Arts is located. I actually had to show a fellow who arrived late and was waiting for a receptionist to show up where the HC The Arts hotel was. The Clover 7 may not be a bad choice; but only if you are there for not a long time period. I was there for a month and got used to the room size; but would definitely not recommend staying longer than a couple of weeks if that. Strange how you can adjust to anything; but if you are a tiny bit claustrophobic either make sure you either choose a different/larger room or a different hotel.

|3.4km from downtownThis review is long over due. My extended family and I stayed at Oakwood Studios Singapore through most of December 2022 and onto the first week of January 2023. The circumstances around our stay was very difficult but the management and staff at the Oakwood Studios made our stay most comfortable and we can’t thank them enough. This is not your typical service apartment but one with a special touch. And it seems to be popular with expats on short assignments to Singapore and families who have patients being treated at MT E Orchard or many of the other medical facilities across Singapore. Nestled across from York hotel and one building next to Quincy this is a most unique property. I have stayed at both the others in the past but I prefer Oakwood by far with its balcony in every room and clean and modern style with kitchenette. But it’s the people that made all the difference. I would like to specially thank Hitesh for going out of his way and even while on holiday to accommodate our ever changing dates and need for rooms. A big thanks to Nass as well for always stepping up and being most accommodating. Thank you Dan, Denise, Kym, Jet and Shobina for all the help at reception, with the brilliant breakfast boxes and recommendations. The residents loved the Thursday night cocktail and snacks which were complimentary and the many hidden outdoor places in the building (including the roof top pool). A must stay in Singapore for those planning to stay for a week or longer. At the time we were there, we heard that the Ascott group had bought Oakwood Studios. As good as the Ascott brand are themselves, I do hope they allow Oakwood Studios to retain its unique style and personality.

|1.52km from downtownThe best about Capitol Kempinski is its convenient location - right opposite City Hall MRT and there's a sheltered path between MRT and hotel via the mall so that you don't get wet even on rainy days! The location is also so central that you can walk to many sightseeing spots from Merlion to Clarke Quay to Haji Lane. Staff were friendly - we especially appreciated Om the porter, who was very warm and helpful throughout our stay. Wonderful view from our room overlooking the St Andrew's Cathedral. Elegant and classy interior design. The Salvatore Ferragamo amenities smelt so good too! However, there were still a number of defects with this five-star luxury hotel:
Both rooms we tried were very humid - our first room even had a water dripping sound every 4-5 seconds, so we could not sleep and had to request for a change of room the next morning, which the hotel arranged speedily. Our second room had no dripping sound but was equally humid - towels and swimming suits were still damp after one night. Thankfully, there was a fan in our Heritage Room, which helped dry things up a bit.
Maintenance and facilities - toilet flushing was not great and shower water was not hot enough for our second room on 3/F. The TV there had no sound at first but got fixed eventually. There was no one watching the swimming pool when we visited, which could be prone to accidents even though it's only 1.2 m high.
House-keeping - upon our arrival we found an open bottle of sparkling water in the fridge probably left by the previous guest, and two little tubes of conditioner (but no lotion - maybe we don't need it in a humid room, haha). This was quite unacceptable for a 5-star hotel. The higher parts of the rooms were dusty. We understand that the interior design makes it difficult to clean on a daily basis, but thorough deep-cleaning should still be carried out once in a while?
Expectation management and food - we expected some sort of welcoming fruits and snacks as we filled out a survey from the hotel two days before our stay, asking about all our preferences. Disappointingly, none of our preferences got addressed during our stay. Buffet breakfast was quite tasty but not among the greatest varieties we had tried in other five-star hotels. I had the same experience with the other two hotels I have stayed in Singapore, so maybe this is still considered good enough for the city.
I can imagine how beautiful this hotel was when it opened five years ago. But without proper maintenance and persistent house keeping work, its charm has diminished. Certainly a waste for a beautiful heritage cluster like this one.
Still a fairly OK-nice stay overall.
