Different from the previous hotels I stayed in, the lobby is on the 7th floor, and there is a sink at the entrance. It is relatively young and energetic, and there are castles outside the room and breakfast windows. The best thing is probably the location. It is located 1 minute opposite the train station. You can walk to Princes Street, Edinburgh Castle, Calton Hill...all of them are good!

On the first day, I booked W Hotel in advance with Ctrip and was charged 4800 a night (booking 1800). The room was average and the second day I stayed in the Balmoral old-school hotel. The room was classic and atmospheric. The service was attentive and the details were perfect. The price was stable and very good to come next time. Would also consider staying here

This is a good place for backpackers. We stayed here for a couple of nights in a 12 bed dormitory. The beds were good with ample space to keep our stuffs. Toilers were clean. The receptionists were friendly and approachable. The check-in time is 2 PM, so if you arrive early, you'll need to wait in the locker room and help yourself to some coffee. Or else you can keep your bags in a locker and roam around the city till you are ready to check-in. Early check-in is also available, but subject to availability of beds/rooms. Overall, quite good.

We had planned a long w/e in Edinburgh and needed a place to stay. When coming across Destiny Market Street, it appeared interesting (& convenient), so we booked. It seems a good value for money. When arriving we were surprised very positively. As we were kind of early, the apartment wasn't available yet, but there was a locked storage were could put our luggage. I realised some people are badly mannered, when opening the locked space and finding a bottle with cola, and paper trash (people too lazy to get rid of their own rubbish). But we stored our cases. To return later on. When entering the apartment it was spacious, with 2 big rooms and a nice bathroom/toilet, as well as a lounge area, with couches and a TV. A few cooking option were present as well. Real value for money (No keys, but pin codes for everything with a lock).

I can not express how disappointed I was with this hotel. I did extensive research as I wanted somewhere nice for my birthday and picked this hotel as it had great reviews and being just under £370 per night for a Delux room with city views my expectations were high. Well what a shock I got. The Bedroom was average at best and certain not deluxe. The beds were appalling, we did not manage to get sleep as the beds were made from hardwood and screwed together. I have attached pictures of the beds.... worst I have every stayed in. I felt like I was in a hostel. I felt like I was sleeping on planks. The city views was a joke as all I had was the railway station and rubbish. The room was very noisy. The TV was so slow it was quicker to watch TV on my mobile. I paid for breakfast and they said I had not had that included in the room rate of £370 per night. Also it stated complementary whisky as part of their “in room features” which was false advertising as they only provided it on day one despite it not stating that. I did question if they were going to take the other in room items out of the room ie TV, HairDryer, etc. There were stains on the chairs and carpets. The cleaning of the room was average at best. There was mould in the bathroom. They did not provide clean glasses and we had to clean them and we had to ask for Tea Bags and milk every day. The service at breakfast was awful as it depended who you were. We asked why some people were service tea/ coffee and others had to get our own. Breakfast was not fantastic. The staff were not that friendly or helpful. Was I wrong to expect a good standard of hotel / room in Edinburgh for £370.00 a night? I have stayed all of the world and never experience just a poor service / standard. Not the birthday experience I had expected. The only thing good about this place was it was central so location was good.

We have stayed in a few indigos in the past and all have been pleasant stays. Staff here are friendly but I feel the hotel is quite tired. The corridor to our room always had a dank smell and the room itself was tatty. We had a dual aspect at the front which was both lovely and horrendous at the same time. Views fabulous, noise levels off the scale! It’s a city with city noise but the windows don’t have double glazing. We were told as it’s an old building they weren’t allowed to double glaze. I’m sure other hotels have got round this issue with secondary glazing or some such. Central location but we won’t stay again

The hotel is located in the center, the facilities are very clean, the facilities / water pressure in the toilet is also good, the kitchen, heating, washing machine, etc. are well equipped. I was able to communicate with the staff through email and there was no inconvenience in staying friendly. (However, because the lift only went up to the third floor, I was able to move my luggage with the help of the staff. But it's understandable enough that there are limits to the lift because most of the buildings in Europe are very old There is a lift running to the third floor and the ventilator? Boiler? It is a hostel that is really unfortunate except for the loud sound of the operation. Highly recommended if you are looking for an apartment type accommodation.

Just a 2 minute walk from Waverley train station, the location is quite good, the room is quiet, the facilities are complete and it is very clean, although Princes Street is not noisy at all. The heating is sufficient and the temperature can be regulated. Many pots and utensils are clean. The only one is the four-digit password for check-in. Four digits were unusable after several calls. Finally I called and asked, not the last four digits of our phone ... but the problem was quickly resolved. In short, check-in was very good Yes!

Hotel is actually much nicer and brighter than the photos on the website suggest. Reception was pretty much none existent and the shower was no more than a trickle. On the plus side, good value for money and great location yo walk into the city centre. The option of breakfast would have been good although the excellent Wee Cafe just up the road did an excellent eggs benidict which more than made up for it. I will definitely stay again mainly due to the location

Good gym. Modern equipment and good new shower facilities Mens changing room is never kept clean, the lockers are consistently broken, there is never any soap in the dispensers. Swimming pool is small but clean. The temperature can vary depending on the day. The steam room has not worked in a long time so as a paying member this incredibly disappointing. The sauna is ok but temperature is never consistent. Staff can be rude at times. Recently witnessed a member of staff shouting and yelling at a women in the gym for turning the music down (she asked all the in the gym if this was ok) ever since Jamie left (previous manager) standards have dramatically reduced. So - fix the steam room. We after all pay a membership for this to work. Have staff treat paying customers with respect. Keep the place clean. Basic hospitality requirements especially just after a pandemic hygiene should be top priority.

Hotel was well located and very clean inside. Rooms made up daily. Breakfast was ok. Odd smell in bathroom - think the drains are not right. Main issues - bathroom extractor fan continuously on -annoying. The doors to other rooms slam noisily and some awful motor/generator out back of hotel also causing constant noise. Hot rooms; window only opens a crack. Overpriced for what is essentially a marginally polished premier inn.

Three people stay in one room, and the sofa bed can be turned into a single bed. It is a 12-minute walk from Edinburgh Castle, the church, the royal mile, and the library, and there are shops along the way. The hotel breakfast is a standard British breakfast, with sausages, eggs, ham, bread, cheese, cereal and fruit. The hotel also provides free self-service washing machines and dryers, but you need to queue up to use them. The room has a microwave and dishwasher, a refrigerator, and a safe. There is a Malaysian restaurant next door. I highly recommend this hotel.

The hotel is located in the new town, 10 minutes walk to Prince Street, the location is very good, downstairs is very popular with locals of the traditional British restaurant, locals will come here specially for breakfast. There is a unique design style, the room is big enough, the bed is comfortable enough, very comfortable experience, the only downside is that the stairs are very narrow and the large luggage is very difficult to get up and down.

From the airport I took the Airlink 100 and drop off at Shandwick Place, then took a short walk for about 0.6 miles to reach the hostel at West Port. You could get a view of the Edinburgh castle right across the hostel. There are cafes, diners and bars just across the road. Victoria street is 5 mins walk away. Everything else is just nearby. I was abit skeptical to book the mixed dorm at first but it was relatively safe in overall. Specifically requested for a lower bunk bed due to my leg injury & I was assigned exactly the way I wanted. The room is spacious however it has a funny smell though, probably because it was occupied with 12 people. I was given the room on level 1, near to the kitchen & chill-out room. Mixed bathroom was kinda clean but the yellow shower cubicle's shower was broken. I had to keep pressing the button for the water to run. Everything was great nonetheless. Staffs were friendly. Locker room service was out of my expectation to be frank. I'd recommend friends to stay however preferably ask them to book a private room for personal best interest, and to get good sleep without the ”symphony of snoring”.

This hotel is historic and grand, I highly recommend it. Was once the Harbor Master's house for the port of Leith and it truly holds all of the charm of a historic building, but with many cool upgrades! The area is really charming, just off the water and a fairly quick bus ride to all the downtown sites. Every single member of the staff from the restaurant, to housekeeping to the front desk really went out of their way to be kind, helpful and attentive. This was a trip of a lifetime for me and they truly made my visit to Edinburgh all the more. I highly recommend The Malmaison. Thank you so very much for an excellent stay.

had a fantastic stay here! there were 10 of us who all booked out a dorm. was quiet, clean and good quality. there are two bathrooms and two toilets per dorm which i thought was very good. our room wasn’t ready for an extra half an hour so they gave us free drink tokens for the bar! the reason this doesn’t get 5 stars is because it was awfully hot in the room - even with the window open! there didn’t seem to be air con - we wondered even if the hostel had put the heating on? we didn’t try the breakfast. the hotel bar had decent food but long waits.

This hotel is so good, why is the rating so low? The hotel has more than 200 years of history, although there is no elevator, but the equipment in the room is very advanced, the toiletries are all L'Occitane, especially mentioning that the bedside table has a radio that has been placed in the light classic is very soothing, lying down without having to watch TV like this The music is very comfortable. Breakfast bread milk fruit is self-help, other such as bacon sausage eggs can be cooked, especially Amway fried poached eggs super delicious. In the UK, if you go out to eat breakfast or lunch, you will have more than 100 pieces. The price is very high, and the price will be high. I will stay here next time~

This was our second time at this hotel and we stayed for almost a week. You can't beat the location on George Street, right downtown, close to shops and restaurants. The hotel is beautiful and the rooms and bathrooms are very nice. The king bed had a good mattress and pillows. There is a safe. They seem to have made upgrades since our last pre-covid stay, including air-conditioning in (all?) rooms. As you would expect in a big city, the rooms are quite small and the hotel is not exactly quiet; also depending on where your room faces. We were right by the elevator, which I generally don't like. I wonder if it's because we booked through our credit card and not direct. It seems there is sometimes a ”penalty'. The rooms are supplied daily with water, delicious cookies and snacks. You can make individual cups of drip coffee in a filter, which is much better than instant coffee but not as good as a Nespresso, IMHO. We had breakfast included and the Printing Press is just wonderful, for breakfast, any meal and later evening cocktails and whiskey. The Burr & Co is a coffee shop, also right next door, with tables outside. Love that place. The hotel has great service. We lost a suitcase and got daily support in checking on the status and changing the address on the delivery. There seemed to be a shortage on hair conditioner and we didn't have a sign for do-not-disturb the first day and got woken at 8 AM, but that didn't spoil our enjoyment of the hotel stay. We expect to be back.

We stayed for 1 night in this beautiful hotel as a birthday night away and it was definitely the best hotel experience I’ve ever had. As we arrived at the hotel we were kindly met with a staff member that went over our room, breakfast, dinner and all the other queries we had. We were worried about how hotel stays works during times of COVID however, the hotel was superbly clean and guidelines were followed at all times. We stayed in the executive club room and it was amazing! Our room was spotless and decorated very beautifully. The bed was very comfortable and the pillows are the best I’ve ever used! As for the shower it was an over head rain shower with excellent water pressure. We had breakfast in the morning and it was beautiful would definitely recommend it to anyone considering a stay. Everything about the stay was spectacular and have recommended it to my friends and family. I’m looking at booking another night again for the new year due to how good my experience was. The staff were also very friendly and showed exceptional customer service. Beautiful room, lovely staff and an amazing nights stay! 5/5

The hotel location is very good, very close to Edinburgh Castle and Princes Street, it is a little far away from Royal Mile Street, but can be reached on foot, the town is very suitable for walking. The hotel implements unmanned management, and you can open the door and the room door yourself according to the password you check in. We are a family of 5 staying with children and living suites. The rooms are large and clean and well-equipped. You can cook your own meals. Tableware and pots are fully equipped (but I do n’t see a microwave). We are accustomed to the British diet. The house even provides equipment such as vacuum cleaners and washing machines, which is in line with our home habits. The price is slightly higher, but for the case of five of us, it is still a lot more cost-effective than booking two single rooms, especially it is really good to be able to cook by ourselves. In particular, we need to remind everyone that the hotel will send you an email 7 days and 1 day before the check-in, which will contain the room number and password for the check-in. If you booked on Ctrip, because they may have booked through other channels, the reserved mailbox is not ours, we cannot receive the mail, we must contact Ctrip customer service one day in advance, get this information, and then Can stay. Because the apartment is unmanned, it will be inconvenient to communicate if there is a temporary problem.
