The Edgewater is a lovely hotel that is definitely at a luxury level which their prices reflect. Still, if you are fortunate enough to have a lake view room, it is a wonderful experience. The staff is very polished for the most part, however, the Concierge could have been better. Housekeeping was a delight; very thorough. You need to understand the location - while stunning - is a bit isolated. You are not close to any shops, restaurants or other services. You can walk to these but it is a healthy walk and when it's cold outside you may not want to take that on. They have a small coffee/gift shop but it doesn't open until 7a and closes around 2p or 2:30p. The gift shop is very Badger focused which, is understandable but . . . come on. Surely expanding the non-collegiate clothing offerings wouldn't hurt. FromS$358

The hotel is in the center of Madison on Main Street, a ten-minute walk to the university and city hall. The hotel facilities are quite four-star, but UMW University is predestined, and the lobby and rooms have university mascots or logos. There are not many tricks for early drinking, typical American early drinking, with fruits, yogurt, etc., but during the epidemic, there is heat and social distancing, and can eat enough. It's worth living in MadisonSOLD OUT

Chose the Doubletree once again for WI Boys State Basketball tournament weekend, having stayed here many times in the past. What a huge disappointment this year was. 1) PARKING: it is understandable not every room can park multiple vehicles, but sometimes when traveling, people can not help but have 2 vehicles. We asked at check-in about parking a 2nd vehicle and were told to check back later that night or early the next morning. Each time we asked, they just pushed back the "ask later" time frame and had absolutely no regard for the fact we had a vehicle to park. On day 2, I had to run an errand and noticed when I left the parking ramp, the entrance was closed off with a sign stating "Lot Full". How can the lot be full when I just left a spot? There was no one monitoring this. When I returned 20 minutes later, the sign was in the same place and I counted 3 open spaces just on the first level. It wasn't that parking wasn't available, they were just too lazy to figure it out. It cost us an extra $50 for the weekend to park. 2) SECURITY: Additional family members also stayed at this hotel. They have a different last name and we did not book our rooms together. There was NO way for the hotel to know we were connected. They were given our room number AND their room was changed to be closer to us. This was all fine, but what if it wouldn't have been? This information should NOT have been given out without our consent! In addition, my husband arrived several hours later than I did and simply told the front desk "my wife is checked in", was not asked his name or for any form of ID, they just asked the room number and he was given a key. Again, NOT safe at all! What if he was not my husband?! 3) HOUSEKEEPING: There was a note on the bathroom mirror stating to call the front desk to schedule housekeeping services. I called around 9:30 AM to request housekeeping for the day and was told they "couldn't accommodate housekeeping requests today". 4) BREAKFAST: There is no continental breakfast. When paying over $250/night for a room, breakfast is a bit of an expectation given how many others offer it. 5) POOL: We were not aware the pool had been removed since our last stay. Kids were very disappointed! With the price paid for our room and the disappointments we encountered, there are 2 comparable hotels an equal distance away from the Kohl Center and a handful more just a bit further of a walk. We will be giving them our business in the future.FromS$224

The pool area was disgusting. When I say disgusting, I don't mean just a little dirty. There was a pile of human feces in the back corner of the pool area (no, I'm not exaggerating). The floors were visibly dirty, the tables were covered with old towels and food people had brought in (as a person with food allergies, this disturbs me and I didn't feel like I could sit down anywhere because every table had crumbs), it looked like it hadn't even had a basic wipe down all day long. They also ran out of pool towels because no one was checking. The guest room was not very comfortable, it was very squished and even though we asked for an accessible room the toilet was VERY low to the ground, so low that my elderly mother had to go to the downstairs public bathroom to use that toilet because she could not get up from the one in the room. The shower HOT/COLD label was backwards and it did not drain properly. I will say that the room itself was very clean, kudos to the staff that cleans rooms! The front desk was very friendly and inviting which is why the scores are all over the place. I appreciated their assistance anytime I asked for help, even if they could not accommodate (bathroom issue). Departure was a breeze, breakfast (although I didn't eat it because of the above mentioned food allergies) looked inviting and my family said it was very good. Other than the customer service and room cleanliness which were both very good, I'm disappointed in Radisson. I travel multiple times a month for work and Radisson is not usually a chain I stay with. Because this was a family trip I decided to give it a try, unfortunately for the cost of the stay and how it ended up, I feel as if the price was not worth the visit. I hope they were just having a bad day.FromS$99
