I'm not sure if this stay missed the mark due to COVID or if it was just one of those things where everything went wrong. I've read so many positive things about this hotel and was excited to stay here. I want to preface this review by stating I too work in hotels and I completely understand how understaffed hotels are, and how everyone is busy from housekeeping to sales. I set up a reservation for my sister's group block that took place on the weekend of October 1st. I spoke with the sales coordinator, Kelley, in charge of that group block. She was gracious enough to honor the group block rate despite the fact that the rate had expired. I then sent her a credit card authorization form to cover my sister's 2 night stay and never received confirmation it was received. I sent her an email 2 days after I sent it and never received a response. I called the hotel a week before the arrival date and spoke to someone at the front desk who put me on hold and called Kelley to confirm. She told me they had received it and reassured me it would replace the card on file. I checked in October 1st around 2PM and asked the front desk agent if my card had been put on my sister's reservation. It wasn't put on there. So not only was nobody in communication with me, but when I was reassured my sister's card would be replaced with mine, it still didn't happen. I asked the front desk agent if she could replace the card now since I'm here and she said no, that my sister had to be with me. I think she might have misunderstood that I wasn't trying to check in for her, I just wanted to use my card. I told her again about the credit card authorization form, she made a call to Kelley and once again told me "We have it we will put it on file before your sister checks in". My sister checks in a couple hours later, and lo and behold they STILL didn't put in my card information. I'm very frustrated to find this out and when I returned to the hotel I was FINALLY able to put my card on file. It shouldn't have had to taken that long. I hate to use the word "unacceptable" because in the hospitality industry I feel that that term is way overused, but that entire situation was incredibly unacceptable. The rooms are absolutely gorgeous, but the HVAC unit didn't work. JR in maintenance did everything he could, and I thank him for that but unfortunately we had to switch rooms. It's fine, it happens. The next room I was in was much better. Water pressure is AMAZING. Breakfast was tasty too and beds were comfortable. The morning of my sister's wedding, I spoke with the AM front desk agent about the possibility of having 2 chairs delivered to rooms for hair and makeup. The front desk agent explained that the rest of the staff wouldn't be coming in until 10 AM (we needed the chairs by 9), but she would see what she would do and call my room. I never received a phone call. If there's no way around it, then just tell me and we can figure something else out instead of promising to call

Because this is a downtown property be prepared for valet and expensive parking. The lobby is small and when we checked in I was a bit surprised by the causal pace of the valet person. The front desk person was quite casual as well. I know it is very hard to find help these days… at least they were there. We were in room 1501 which was a very small and dark corner room. The decor is OLD, the chairs were visibly worn out. Not up to the usual Hampton Standards at all. However, the next morning the breakfast guy had out a nice breakfast with the good old hard boiled eggs!!! Lots of other stuff too! The area was clean and well supervised. There was a homeless guy outside looking in the window and watching the tv. The front desk person was right on it and asked if we wanted the shade pulled down. Would I stay there again….no that room creeped me out. Oh and there was a bug on the bed! Not a bed bug but something! Nope….that does not work for me!

The first American hotel to live in. More than expected! The room is spacious, the sanitary condition is very good, the bed is large, and the bed in the standard room is also 1.35m. The surrounding environment is very good, full of green trees, few people on the street, quiet. The service is also good.

We stayed in one of the Ambassador suites on a Saturday night. The property is gorgeous. It’s restaurants and main bar are very nice. The price point for their items are expensive but it’s definitely a luxury experience. We didn’t get to see the pool but there is one located on the 6th floor. My suite was very nice. The check in experience was my least favorite part of our stay as we waited over an hour past check in time for the room to be cleaned and then did not receive their standard notification that it was ready. The front desk handled it well considering the inconvenience and offered a late check out to make up for the lost time. The room was clean and was represented well by the pictures listed online. A few minor things could be improved such as semi broken door handle or no robes in the suite but overall it was lovely. The staff were a charismatic and diverse bunch who seemed to really shine interacting with the guests. They were also good at pivoting around issues to find solutions and keep guests happy. Sometimes I would get conflicting information depending on the associate or I would have to ask for something more than once but I attribute that to issues in training or possibly staffing. The mechanics behind the scenes could be improved but overall the service was great. It’s worth the money considering the modern amenities, luxury aesthetic, friendly staff and excellent downtown location with beautiful views. Any cons are outweighed by the pros.
