Family Friendly Hotels in Yunnan, China

This was by far the best hotel/guesthouse experience we had during our trip to Yunnan. The room came with a Xiao AI smart speaker, the bathroom was clean, and the water pressure was excellent. They also offer airport pick-up and drop-off, which is perfect for guests catching early flights the next day. On the day we checked in, they even gave us complimentary flower cakes. Employee number 666 provided amazing service!

The service here was absolutely amazing! I usually don't write reviews, but this time I just had to share 😂. When we arrived, the owner personally came to pick us up and even helped with our luggage, which was incredibly thoughtful. The guesthouse is halfway up Lion Mountain, and I initially thought it might be noisy, but it was completely quiet. Getting around was super convenient; Square Street and Bar Street were just a 4-5 minute walk away, making it easy to go anywhere. The room was clean and tidy, the bed was super comfortable, and the Wi-Fi was stable. It offered great value for money, and the overall Japanese-inspired design felt so cozy. When it got chilly at night, I just told the owner and a heater was brought to our room right away. The owner warmly invited us to join them for tea and meals, and every evening we could chat with other guests and make new friends in the tea room. The atmosphere was truly fantastic – I guess this is what travel is all about! I especially have to mention the Lijiang Eternal Love show tickets the owner helped us book. They were incredible value, VIP tickets even, but at a price lower than regular VIP tickets! They also thoughtfully told us where to catch the shuttle bus, which was really great! When we left, the owner even asked our departure time, personally helped carry our luggage to the taxi stand, and waited until the car arrived and our bags were in the trunk before leaving. Every day we stayed here was delightful, and it was definitely an unforgettable accommodation experience! I hope the owner's business thrives and they host many more lucky guests~

I had a truly pleasant stay at this hotel in Lijiang. The host Fei is extremely kind, warm, and helpful. From the moment I arrived, he made me feel very welcome and was always ready to assist with any questions, recommendations, or requests. He even helped to carry and bring our luggage to the hotel, which was very thoughtful and much appreciated. His hospitality really made a big difference and added a personal touch to the stay. The room was very cozy, clean, and comfortable. Everything was well maintained and thoughtfully arranged, which made it easy to relax and feel at home. I slept very well during my stay and appreciated the quiet and peaceful atmosphere. The location is also very convenient. It is not far from the North Gate of Lijiang Old Town, making it easy to explore the area, find food, and move around without any hassle. At the same time, the hotel is in a calm area away from the crowds. Another great point is that airport pickup service is available, which made arrival much easier and stress free. Overall, this is a wonderful place to stay in Lijiang. Great location, comfortable room, and an amazing host. Malaysian travelers, please come and stay at this hotel. You will not regret it. I would definitely recommend this hotel to other travelers and would happily stay here again on my next visit.

Nanping Pedestrian Street in downtown Kunming is a lively, walk-only shopping and food hub that blends historic charm with modern city energy. It’s busiest in the late afternoon and evening, when lights come on and the street fills with locals and visitors. Food is a major highlight. You’ll find classic Yunnan specialties like crossing-the-bridge rice noodles, rose flower cakes, and crispy pork pastries, along with popular street snacks such as grilled skewers, tofu, tanghulu, and potato dishes. There are also plenty of restaurants, bubble tea shops, dessert cafés, and coffee chains for sit-down meals or quick breaks. Overall, it’s a must-visit spot for strolling, snacking, shopping, and experiencing Kunming’s urban culture in one place.

The view is just as beautiful as it looks, and location wise it is ideal. The room was clean and stunning views. The food was good when it was available, but many of the options on the menu were not available. Likewise, there was no water in the outdoor pool as advertised. The staff also said they didn’t know how to make cocktails, despite having a bar with all spirits available. Finally, I would recommend AGAINST booking a car transit through the hotel. We ended up missing our train from Kunming because the driver (and her friend, who was brought along for the ride) stopped multiple times, including for long snack breaks, so we arrived 20 minutes after our train time.

The biggest feeling is that all the waiters in the hotel are warm and thoughtful. We have stayed in many parent-child hotels with our children, and the waiter training of this hotel is really great! The room is clean and tidy, the layout is warm and spacious, the hotel is in a good location and very quiet. Especially the front desk Minnie George is also very enthusiastic, and she took the initiative to add WeChat. If you have any needs during the three-day stay, you can send her WeChat to help solve them in time. There is also a male lifeguard with braids by the swimming pool. The child's swimming ring fell in the pool. He collected it specially the next day. My mother insisted that I write down to thank him. The buffet dinner is also great. After the meal, I took the children to DIY food. I got more than one comfortable and pleasant stay experience. Our whole family had a lot of fun staying during the May Day holiday.

Great location, close to the train station and main attractions. The compound itself was amazing, with a large open field with free-roaming animals you can interact with. The three huge but super friendly malamutes were always there to greet us when we arrive or leave. The room was spacious and clean, with thoughtful touches like an oxygen machine and heated floors, which were lifesavers during the cold winter. The highlight was definitely the beautiful view of the animal field with mountains in the background. Service was excellent, massive thanks to 阿城 and his team for taking such good care of us, and for ending each night with a warm bowl of bird’s nest soup. 100% recommended!

This hotel was an absolute gem. It has a very authentic old Chinese style that gives it so much charm and character—you really feel immersed in the local culture. The people working there were incredibly kind and caring. On my first night, I caught a cold and had a runny nose and sneezing, and a beautiful lady immediately brought me some food and hot water without hesitation. That level of thoughtfulness truly touched me. Every morning, she also kindly offered me coffee, which made my days start on such a pleasant note. The location is perfect, making it easy to explore the area, and the amenities were very good and well maintained. Overall, it was a wonderful experience, and I felt genuinely cared for during my stay. I would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a charming, authentic, and welcoming place to stay.

We just got back to Kunming from Tengchong, and checking into 18 Degrees Residence was a series of pleasant surprises! For this price point, being able to stay in a hotel of this caliber is incredible value for money. The front desk staff were super friendly and welcoming, and there's free coffee available in the lobby. In the room, you can control the curtains, lights, TV, and audio with the smart assistant. The decor is white with charming semi-circular arches for the doors and windows – very distinctive and I loved it! A robot delivered complimentary sweet soup and fruit to our room. The hotel is located right next to the subway, making transportation incredibly convenient; nothing feels far away. Our room was clean and tidy, and the bedding was super comfortable. Sitting by the window, gazing at the view below, and enjoying the welcome sweet soup and fruit, all the fatigue from our previous travels just melted away. Definitely a five-star review! I’d love to stay at a hotel from this brand again next time!

This hotel by Dianchi Lake is pretty good all-around. The environment, of course, is fantastic. The open-plan lobby is very grand, and the jewelry sold in the shops reflects its upscale positioning. I even tried some Pu'er tea at the tea shop, and it was rich and fragrant. The public areas are huge. I heard there are peacocks somewhere, but I asked several staff members, and they all said they didn't know where they were, which was a bit funny. Even though I stayed for three nights, I still didn't get a chance to use the hot springs. Breakfast was quite varied, but I actually started feeling a bit of altitude sickness and couldn't eat much. The restaurant itself was a bit hard to find; I walked around for a long time on the first day trying to locate it. It would be great if the signs along the way were more detailed. It's about a 20-minute walk to Haigeng Dam by Dianchi Lake, or even 10-15 minutes if you walk quickly. The scenery along the way is beautiful, perfect for a stroll and to aid digestion.
