The 1st Battalion of the Grenadier Guards will present a Trooping the Colour ceremony before His Majesty King Charles III on Saturday, June 13, 2026. More than 1,350 soldiers from the King's Guard and the Royal Horse Artillery will participate, including over 300 musicians from the Combined Military Band. The Trooping the Colour ceremony first took place during the reign of King Charles II, from 1660 to 1685. In 1748, it was decided to establish the ceremony as an official celebration of the monarch's birthday. After George III's accession to the throne in 1760, the ceremony became an annual event. The guards participating in the parade are drawn from the monarch's Royal Guard; thereafter, it became customary for different infantry guards to take turns performing the parade.
