The Baltimore Open adheres to strict National/IWF standards, ensuring a competition of the highest quality.
Registration for this exceptional event is now open, and early birds have the opportunity to save. Athletes who register before midnight on November 15th, 2023, will enjoy a 10% discount on the registration fee. To take advantage of this offer, use the promo code 2024BOearly. Simply visit the ticket page and find the registration link in the upper left corner.
Coaches play a crucial role in the journey of athletes, and we want to keep them informed. When completing the entry form, please provide your coach's email address so we can keep both athletes and coaches updated.
The division for this event is determined by age, with consideration given to the athlete's age as of December 31st, 2024. The Novice Division is open to all ages, but restricted to athletes who have competed in fewer than two USAW-Sanctioned meets. Please ensure you select the correct division during registration. Please note that division changes will only be accepted under exceptional circumstances, and such changes may affect the day you lift.
Weight class changes are permitted until December 31st, 2023. After this date, weight class changes can only be made on the day of the meet. Athletes moving down a weight class must participate in the weigh-in session for that specific weight class, which may result in lifting earlier than initially scheduled. Athletes moving up a weight class must attend the weigh-in for their registered class and declare the change to the weigh-in official. Failure to follow these procedures may still allow the athlete to lift, but tie-breaking rules would prevent them from competing for a medal.
The start list and schedule for the Baltimore Open will be posted after the registration period ends or when the event reaches its capacity. Typically, Masters and Youth athletes lift on day one, followed by Open division athletes on day two. Novice lifters will have their schedule determined based on the number of novice athletes participating. If you're interested in volunteering for this incredible event, the sign-up details will be announced once the schedule is finalized.
The Baltimore Open adheres to National/IWF meet standards and rules, with a minor exception. Athletes who exceed their registered weight at weigh-in have the option to lift in a higher weight class, but they must first appear at the weigh-in for their registered session. It's essential to familiarize yourself with these rules, which can be found at the following link: [insert link].
Please be prepared to present a photo ID and proof of current USAW registration at the weigh-in. Youth athletes can provide a passport or a copy of their birth certificate. Additionally, all lifters must wear a singlet to compete, and weightlifting belts cannot exceed 12 cm / 4.75 in in width.
We would like to highlight that footwear must not be placed on the bar on the competition platform, as it will result in a No Lift. In terms of awards, Youth athletes will be recognized by division and gender, with winners determined by the Sinclair and youth coefficient for age. Masters athletes will be awarded in each weight class, taking into account gender and age. Open division athletes will be awarded based on total weight lifted in each weight class.
The 2024 Baltimore Open is sanctioned by USA Weightlifting and the Maryland-Potomac Valley LWC with the Sanction Number 12471. Please note that refunds for withdrawals are subject to the availability of a replacement lifter on the waiting list. No refunds will be granted after December 31st, 2023.
Given the limited capacity of 120 lifters, we recommend securing your spot early. The schedule will begin with the first session weigh-in at 6:00 a.m. on January 20th, 2024, and will proceed from lighter to heavier weight classes, alternating between male and female sessions each day. While Masters are expected to lift on day one and the Open Division on day two, the schedules for Youth and Novice sessions will be determined based on the number of athletes registered. Please keep in mind that the schedule is subject to change based on final registration numbers.
Don't miss out on the opportunity to witness incredible displays of strength and skill at the 2024 Baltimore Open. Join us in Cockeysville as we celebrate the sport of weightlifting in a truly unforgettable event.
