The gleam of armor, the neighing of warhorses, and the tolling of castle bells, along with the honor and faith held steadfast in their hearts, formed the radiant spiritual totem that shone through the turbulent Middle Ages. Knights, a group born amidst the smoke of battle, wrote legends that transcended eras.

The family crest engraved on the gilded armor tells tales of battlefield glory and duty through every intricate line; the sharp blades, exquisite horse gear, and solemn paintings silently recreate the knights' valiant years of charging into battle, competing in tournaments, and defending their faith.

Knights, where reason and glory intertwined, clad in armor as their bodies and faith as their souls, forged their spiritual code with loyalty, bravery, temperance, and compassion, upholding ideals amidst power and strife. 1. Treasures from the European royal armory come to China, with 140 knight artifacts on display in Chengdu
In collaboration with the Musei Reali of Turin – home to one of Europe's most historic and well-preserved royal armories, showcasing nearly nine centuries of glory from the House of Savoy. This exhibition marks a significant display of knight artifacts from the Musei Reali in China, featuring precious collections including armor crafted by renowned masters such as Negroli and Helmschmied, the first edition of fencing master Achille Marozzo's treatise, ceremonial helmets of Italian kings Vittorio Emanuele II and Umberto I, with many items leaving Europe for overseas exhibition for the first time.
2. Panoramic narrative: From battlefield glory to romantic imagination, understanding the millennium evolution of the knightly class. The exhibition breaks through single artifact displays, constructing a complete narrative through three major units:
Path of glory: Witness a knight's journey from page to knighthood, explore the craftsmanship of Gothic and Milanese armor, and observe the evolution of combat weapons like knight swords, war hammers, lances, and horse armor up close.The changing times: Confronting the revival of infantry and the rise of firearms' impact on the knightly class, showcasing how Swiss pike squares and matchlock guns transformed the era of heavy armor.Romantic echoes: Step into the Renaissance-era armor workshop to admire the gilded etched steel breastplates of the House of Savoy, dolphin-mask helmets, and other "steel jewelry," while deciphering the power symbolism behind armor portraits.3. Year of the horse: A cross-cultural dialogue on warhorse traditions between East and West
Coinciding with the 2026 Chinese Year of the Horse, the exhibition centers on the theme of "horse," showcasing a complete lineage from 5th-century BC bronze horse bits to 16th-century gilded warhorse armor. It explores the life-and-death alliance between medieval warhorses and knights, deeply presenting the millennium-spanning symbiotic relationship between European knights and their steeds, while revealing how equestrian civilization reshaped human history.
