Join Quintín Rivera Toro and José Ortiz Pagán as they delve into the captivating exhibition, Ida y vuelta: Experiencias de la migración en el arte puertorriqueño contemporáneo, currently showcased at the Hunter College East Harlem Gallery in New York City. Through their thought-provoking pieces, Rivera Toro's The Grass was Greener (2017) and Untitled, from the series Ahi vamos (2007), alongside Ortiz Pagán's La bóveda (2015), both artists explore the poignant theme of departing one's homeland and the accompanying uncertainty. In this insightful conversation, moderated by CENTRO Art Researcher, Glorimar Garcia, they analyze the multifaceted emotions and challenges associated with this decision. Curated by Laura Bravo, this remarkable exhibition features the works of 19 Puerto Rican artists, each offering a unique perspective on the migration experiences of Puerto Ricans living abroad. Translated as Arrivals and Departures: Migration Experiences in Contemporary Puerto Rican Art, this exhibition will be open for public viewing at the Hunter College East Harlem Gallery until December 14th.
