Join us for an exciting course covering all the basics of sailing. Learn to safely rig and sail a Hunter 140 dinghy sailboat.
The Community Sailing Program has teamed up with the City of Winter Park, Florida to provide a sailing program that is focused on fun and safety. Join us for an exciting course covering all the basics of sailing. Upon completion, you will have the skill and knowledge to rig and sail a small boat on your own and will receive the Community Sailing Program Small Boat certification.
Prerequisites:
Sailing is a physical sport. Your training will include being seated on a one-foot high bench seat, moving from one side of the boat to the other, righting a capsized boat and climbing into the boats from the water. For your own safety, we require the following as a minimum for your ability to participate. You should be able to complete 5 standing squats, 2 knee push-ups, and swim 100 feet while wearing a PFD(lifejacket). If you have any orthopedic issues, epsecially with your knees, or other health problems, please contact us before registering.
You will need to bring your own Personal Flotation Device, also known as a Life Jacket. We recommend a coast guard Type III PFD.

A&H Conversations presents an engaging event, featuring esteemed guest speaker Katie Benson, who will shed light on the remarkable works of Jules André Smith. Katie Benson, an accomplished individual with a Bachelor's degree in Art History and International Relations from the University of North Florida, has been an integral part of the Art & History Museums of Maitland for several years. Starting as a Museum Attendant, she quickly became captivated by the rich history and artistic brilliance of the Art Center. Through her personal research endeavors, Benson has delved deeper into the subject, leading her to her current role as the Exhibitions Manager. In this capacity, she is responsible for the care of the museum's priceless collection and supports the Curatorial team. A&H Conversations take place during the Last Wednesday event hours, extending from 5:30 pm to 8 pm. This exclusive event allows visitors to explore the gallery after regular hours, with complimentary admission and a bar service.
