These works sparked a wave of innovation in France at the turn of the century, deeply captivating Robert Ryman. His unique style, initially met with ridicule, but this style—depicting everyday scenes of the late 19th century with vibrant colors and bold brushstrokes—later inspired numerous artists and is now considered a seminal work of Modernism.
