The 2024 Freedom Run 5K/10K is one of the largest races in Statesboro and is hosted annually by the Georgia Southern University's Army ROTC program. This event serves as the primary fundraiser for the Eagle Battalion, helping to fund their day-to-day activities, ceremonies, training events, and scholarships. It is a family-friendly event, welcoming participants of all ages and skill levels. The 5K Run/Walk/Crawl division is open to participants of all ages and skill levels, while the 5K Ruck division offers a more challenging experience for runners 13 and over. Participants in the Ruck division must maintain a minimum weight throughout the race and will be awarded based on overall performance. The 10K Run requires participants to maintain at least a jogging pace, with no walkers allowed. Online registration for the 2024 Freedom Run 5K/10K closes on Tuesday, April 16, 2024, at 11:30 PM. Day of registration will be available on April 20 starting at 6:30 AM. Parking is available in Lot 42, located across from the Military Science (ROTC) Building at 4526 Old Register Rd, Statesboro, GA. Well-behaved dogs on leashes, not longer than 6 feet, are allowed at the event. However, retractable leashes are not permitted, and participants are expected to clean up after their pets.
