Teacology: an eco-activist book club | Yewtopia Winnipeg
Cultural Experiences
Come enjoy an afternoon of traversing the robust eco-library. Spend the 1st half reading & taking notes, and then 2nd half share key points
A chance to traverse the eco-library which is robust with over 3000 books and archival treasures. Onsite one can browse from the eco-literacy collections of Vere Hunt Scott and Carol Shields, both combined, offering a wide range of niche books new and old *
Teacology book club events are designed to give people the chance to individually read and learn about specialized environmental, eco-activism, naturalist, political science, or systems change topics, to then share with the group in the second part of the evening. This gives a great opportunity to learn synergistically along with others who are able to summarize the key points and notable inspirations from the books they read.
And of course tea will be served!
Each event will start with brief introductions from participants, an orientation to the space, a background of the collections, an overview of the categories and book options, and then participants will get a chance to choose 1-3 books to read. The aim is that each person spends 1.5 hours reading and taking notes of things that they would like to share. A template will be provided that will prompt areas of things to write down. It is not the aim to finish a book or rush through it, or to necessarily read it from the beginning, although the goal should be to get a takeway that can add into the pool of key sharing points for the second part of the evening.
If you are neither an introvert or extrovert, this event
will be
up your alley! It is a mix of both extremes (silent aloneness & sharing circle)
