ULICA International Street Theatre Festival | Krakow
Celebration
The 39th ULICA International Street Theatre Festival will be held from July 3rd to 5th and July 10th to 12th, 2026. This year's theme is "La Strada," referring to the aesthetics and traditions of the circus and its presence in contemporary street theatre. For nearly four decades, KTO Theatre has invited artists from around the world to transform Krakow and other cities into an open and vibrant theatrical stage. Organized by KTO Theatre and its director Jerzy Zoń, the ULICA Festival is one of the most important and renowned street theatre events in Central and Eastern Europe. Each year, the festival brings together nearly two hundred artists representing diverse traditions and artistic languages, attracting tens of thousands of audience members—including locals and tourists. Performances are primarily held in public spaces in Krakow, but the festival also frequently crosses borders to other cities, attracting new communities. Inspired by circus, physical theatre, and performance art, this festival showcases its theme through a series of performances, transforming the streets into a stage and making passersby participants in the performances. "La Strada" also emphasizes the festival's openness: it is approachable and inclusive, capable of transcending language, age, and experience barriers to build community.
