This was my first time using a rental car, and it turned out to be a very positive experience.
I had originally booked a Honda Fit, but on the day of arrival, I was given a Toyota Yaris, which was a pleasant surprise. The Yaris is known for its fuel efficiency, so I felt that saving on gasoline costs was a major advantage.
Regarding insurance, I had already purchased insurance through trip.com, and although I was offered additional insurance at the rental location, I declined and used the car as is. Before departure, the car was inspected for scratches and I received a thorough explanation, which made me feel at ease even though it was my first time using a rental car.
I actually drove from Tottori city to Izumo Taisha Shrine, covering approximately 400km in two days. The car was comfortable, easy to drive, and I didn't feel any stress. The staff were also very polite, leaving an overall positive impression.
Upon return, the rule was to return the car with a full tank of gas, and I used a self-service gas station from the designated options. The price of gasoline was about 166 yen per liter, and the final refueling cost was approximately 2,900 yen. Considering the distance traveled, I think the fuel efficiency was truly impressive.
This was my first time using a rental car, but it was a smooth and worry-free experience, greatly expanding the freedom of my trip. I would definitely recommend this to anyone considering renting a car in the future.

Overall, the car rental experience was good. The rental company asked me to call them from Tottori Station, and I thought they would pick me up from the station. Unfortunately, there was a communication barrier in English. Fortunately, staff from the station's tourism bureau helped explain, and it was eventually confirmed that there was no pick-up service. Calling to confirm the location and arrival method seemed unnecessary. The biggest problem was that Times' price was slightly cheaper, around HK$100, but my order was rejected, and I was asked to book through Eurocar instead. They are actually the same company in the same location. Having no choice, I felt forced to rent the same car at a higher price. I hope Trip.com will follow up to avoid more negative reviews in the future.
