Fully equipped, and I just managed to rent a new car. It only had 80 kilometers on it, and it had CarPlay and ventilated seats—it was fantastic.

This worked out great with a suitably economical car for travel around Hokkaido. Although it didn't come with a highway toll pass, paying by cash was a new economical. The English GPS was not that helpful and it would have been better to include a phone holder (which I had brought along anyway). However, that didn't detect from this excellent service, and they even have us a lift to the closest train station after the car was returned.

The car pictured online was a Fit, but the one we picked up on-site was a Yaris Cross, and the car was in great condition! Thanks to TripAdvisor for our 4-day trip. Since TripAdvisor already included insurance, we only needed to show our TripAdvisor documents on-site, and the rental staff didn't try to push their insurance on us. The return process was also quite quick. Overall, a great experience! Thumbs up! 👍

Nissan X-Trail
Planning a road trip in Hokkaido, Japan, I encountered a car rental problem. The websites of some local car rental companies in Hokkaido weren't user-friendly enough, which was frustrating. After comparing several options, I decided to use Ctrip's car rental service. The car selection process became much easier, the information was very transparent, and the online service was quick and helpful. I chose a Nissan X-Trail SUV from Travel Rent a Car. It allowed cancellation up to three days in advance. I kept an eye on the prices and noticed they often changed. I cancelled twice to get a better deal, finally renting an X-Trail for 9 days at around 40 Singapore dollars per day. I purchased additional insurance from Trip.com. While it's not as convenient as buying the full insurance package from the car rental company, considering that Travel Rent a Car doesn't offer 100% coverage, using Trip.com essentially eliminated the risk. … I arrived at New Chitose Airport at 11 PM and notified the car rental company via WhatsApp to pick up the car at 9 AM the next day. The response was prompt. The next morning, after having breakfast at the hotel in the airport terminal the night before, I went to parking spot number 30 and waited. The car arrived quickly. (We informed them of the license plate number beforehand.) About 15 minutes later, the three of us, along with our luggage, were taken to the departure point in the car dealer's van. A Toyota Lamando was waiting for us. The car's exterior was a bit old, and there were some scratches on the paint. I checked the odometer and saw it was over 10 kilometers, which made me a little worried. The service staff member was a young woman wearing a mask who spoke Mandarin. After checking my credit card, driver's license, and other information, another young man, also a Mandarin speaker, quickly explained the car's internal functions. We took photos of the car to confirm that the ETC was working properly, and then hurriedly drove to Noboribetsu. This trip involved a long loop: Noboribetsu, Lake Toya, Hakodate, Eiza, Sutsu, Niseko, Otaru, Miei, Furano, Sapporo, and back to New Chitose, a total of 1450km. This "old car" was incredibly smooth and easy to drive. The entire journey was very smooth. The return process was also smooth and friendly. Thank you to the car dealer! 🙏. Also, the fact that this car dealership doesn't offer HEP (Highway Protection) is a "drawback," but for us, with 8,000 yen already accumulated in highway tolls, not using HEP is more cost-effective. Thanks travel. Thanks trip.

The car was in excellent condition, only a little over a year old, and quite spacious (the four of us had one 28-inch suitcase, one 25-inch suitcase, and two 20-inch suitcases, and the trunk was completely full). The company staff were very friendly, and picking up the car was very simple. I was worried about not having a phone in Japan and not knowing how to call the rental company to ask them to pick us up, or where to meet them, etc., but thankfully the rental company had Line and WeChat for communication. I confirmed with them again before departure, and when I arrived, there were pictures to guide me to pick-up point number 98, which was very convenient and simple. This was my first time going to Hokkaido. I felt very reassured. The car pickup process was simple, so I drove off. When we returned the car, the staff gave a quick look at the exterior and then quickly took us to the airport. The car was very close to the airport, and the driver even told us we were going to shop at the domestic terminal because there was a lot of stuff to see. He also told us where to store our luggage, which was very kind. I had compared prices with other rental companies beforehand, and it was significantly cheaper than others, which made me a little worried, but the experience was fantastic. I highly recommend this rental company – it offers excellent value for money.

Picking up the car was very convenient, and the service was excellent! They gave me the model I selected, and it was brand new! If you have two large pieces of luggage, it's best to choose an SUV!

The rental site wasn't paved, so it looked a bit basic at first glance, but it didn't significantly affect the rental quality. I picked up a Delika D5 diesel (light oil) with 18,000 miles. It was powerful, easy to drive, and had an average fuel consumption of about 12-13 km/L. The car was in pretty good condition; both the exterior and interior were clean. Minor scratches were noted on the receipt when I picked it up. Insurance is very important, so remember to buy full coverage. A day or two before renting, you should add them on WhatsApp or other apps to communicate with customer service in Chinese. The pick-up time from the airport to the rental site is about 10-15 minutes after contacting them. This time, the staff member who helped me was Rui. She explained things clearly and answered all my questions. It was a much better experience than renting a car through Budget. Renting through Trip.com was also much cheaper. Next time I come to Japan, I'll consider switching from Tabirai to Trip.com.

This was my first time renting a car in Japan, and I was extremely satisfied. The vehicle was a brand-new car with only 1,400km on the odometer, the price was reasonable, and the staff were very friendly. I highly recommend this place!
