Likewise, families can bring their children to this island for it is brimming with exciting recreational activities and sights to see that are suitable for all ages.

Crisp, fresh ocean air and evergreen tropical forests, this quaint little island off the Gulf of Thailand is one you have to put on your list for travel destinations!

Is this your first time visiting Phú Quốc? Our guide covers sights and activities perfect for every kind of traveller there is - the adventurous, the curious and the leisure seeker. Complete with recommendations for your meals, use our itinerary to uncover the magic of Phú Quốc Island.

Book your flight to Phú Quốc Island today!

Before setting off on your trip to Phú Quốc, planning your itinerary well can help you save on costs and make the journey a smooth one.

There are two ways you can get to Phú Quốc Island:

By plane:

You can take flights to the Phú Quốc International Airport. Direct flights are available from Bangkok, Thailand and Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. If you are taking a flight from anywhere else, there will likely be a transfer at another airport. Likewise, domestic flights are available from Da Nang, Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City. The Phú Quốc International Airport opened in 2012 and is located about nine kilometres from Duong Dong town.

By boat:

Travellers can opt for the ferry routes from Ha Tien or Rach Gia to reach Phú Quốc. These routes offer a much more relaxed journey to the island with beautiful landscapes to take in along the way. Phú Quốc Express is a favourite among travellers who desire comfort in their journeys. These ferry rides come equipped with water, on-board entertainment and are generally clean - making it suitable for those travelling with children.

Since it is an island getaway, the weather plays a big part in determining your travel plans and how your holiday will go. Depending on what your travel plans look like, the best season to visit Phú Quốc Island differs.

From November to March

Travellers who choose to travel during this season can look forward to clear blue skies and warm weather. Also known as the high season, Phú Quốc tends to be packed with families and backpackers around this time because it coincides with the school holidays. The hot and dry weather - averaging at about 30 degree Celsius - is also perfect for activities like snorkelling and diving.

As the season tends to be high peak, travellers are advised to make arrangements for their stay in Phú Quốc - hotels, reservations, tours and activities - in advance to lower the risk of high costs later on.

From April to October

This season is when Phú Quốc Island experiences its annual monsoon. Travellers can expect some amount of rainfall during this period but not to an extent where your travel plans are disrupted. The cooler weather during this low season permits for some good treks up in Phú Quốc’s tropical rainforests and visits to their natural waterfalls.

This low peak season is also perfect for those who prefer a quieter and relaxed atmosphere during vacation. There are lower numbers and prices tend to be parked around a more reasonable range as well.

Make your stay in Phu Quoc comfortable with these luxury accommodations.
