Xidi Ancient Village | This once-forgotten place is the distant land we yearn for
Xidi Ancient Village is located to the east of Yi County in Anhui Province, within the Huangshan Scenic Area of Yi County, Anhui Province. Covering an area of nearly 13 hectares, the village has a history of over 950 years and currently has 3 ancestral halls and 1 archway from the 14th to the 19th century, as well as 224 ancient residential buildings from the Ming and Qing dynasties. Xidi Village has preserved the typical style of ancient Ming and Qing villages to this day, earning it the nickname 'a living museum of ancient residences'.
Entering the village, you are greeted by a tall archway, and as you walk along the main road by the lake, the ancient waterwheel turns slowly and heavily. A pond of clear water reflects the black-tiled and white-walled Hui-style architecture, perfectly blending with the golden rapeseed flowers in front of the doors, presenting a beautiful and enchanting Jiangnan ink painting. Along the way, there are many students and artists painting en plein air, each focused on their brushwork, capturing these beautiful scenes on canvas...
Compared to the bustling Hongcun, Xidi feels more authentic and simple, with a much lower degree of commercialization. The village has one main street, which is a commercial street, but beyond that, most of the inhabitants are locals and there are quite a few guesthouses. Walking through the narrow alleys and lanes, you can look up to see tall horse-head walls and white walls and green tiles covered with moss, adorned with festive and auspicious red lanterns🏮. Here, you will forget the passage of time and only feel that the years are peaceful...
If you are tired of the hustle and bustle of the city, Xidi is a great place to visit, and it won't be overcrowded even on holidays. Walking on the bluestone-paved roads through the alleys, you can see these pink walls and black tiles that have witnessed a thousand years of historical changes; in the evening, buy a pot of locally brewed rice wine, sit by the window of your room for a drink, and watch as the red lanterns on the street light up one by one, enjoying the utmost comfort.

Transportation tips:
The ancient villages in southern Anhui are quite scattered, so it's best to drive there. Alternatively, now that the Hangzhou-Huangshan high-speed train is in operation, you can take the high-speed train to Huangshan North and then rent a car or charter one. Xidi Ancient Village is not very large, and a general tour of 3.4 hours is enough. Of course, if you have time, you can stay in the scenic area, taste the local cuisine, learn about the local customs, and also see the beautiful night scenery🌃!
It was 3 pm when I went, and I played until 7 o'clock. If you are shopping fast, you can go before 5 o'clock. It's not big inside, it's very fast. After the night gets up, the whole is very beautiful.
Three days effective. Cost-effective! The number of in and out is not limited. The folk customs of the village are simple. The environment is beautiful. There are not many tourists. The restaurant price is favorable. The snacks are delicious. The post office souvenirs are too exquisite. I bought a lot of postcards and stamps. The light show at night is too beautiful. It is shocking. It is a lot of fun. Stayed in the village for five nights. When the morning dew. Practice Taiji. Exercise yoga in the sunset. Eat some snacks when you are hungry. Quick! It is very convenient to connect to various scenic spots. It is also very convenient to go to the Jixian high-speed rail station. The driver and waiter are very good. Warm and thoughtful!
The beauty of Xidi is not only in the eyes, but also in its cultural heritage. It is very pleasant to stroll around here. The night view of the ancient village is also worth recommending. Under the light of the smoke and the fountain, the ancient village gives off a modern atmosphere. The management of the scenic spot is also very orderly, it is worth a visit!
Xidi in the rain is really beautiful, not as many people as Hongcun
As an ancient village at the foot of Huangshan Mountain with a large scale and well-preserved, Xidi is definitely worth a visit. Small bridges and flowing water, crisscrossing the moors, windmills are leisurely and smoky. The leisurely and natural pastoral scenery makes people feel like they are born. The most amazing is the night light show and music fountain, which makes this place a fairyland on earth, with deep memories and lingering memories.
Xidi Ancient Village is really a place not to be missed in southern Anhui! I have also been like you because of its reputation, worried that there are many tourists and dare not go to ......, but the truth is really not like this! And listen to me: the commercialization of Xidi Scenic Area is not very serious, except for the main road that will gather many tourists, Xidi has many alleys, many exquisite literary shops, there is no one inside! ! (I went to the May 1st Golden Week) So everyone really don't follow the flow of people, you can choose one or two favorite stores, sit down and slowly feel the simplicity and elegance of this ancient village in southern Fujian~
Very quiet village, not as serious as the commercialization of Hongcun, here still retains the normal life atmosphere of many Aboriginal people, small bridges and flowing water, green mountains and green waters, not so many people, every place is scenery, casually turn back, blue bricks and tiles, white walls and gray tiles, horse head walls, It's all a picture of ink and blue
Xidi Ancient Village has different scenery during the day and night. You can enjoy the ink-water south of the Yangtze River during the day. The Xidi night show at night is even more beautiful. The actual scene interpretation is completely beyond the expected visual effect. It is really worthwhile.
