It's in front of the Otemae bus stop.

    Original Text

The Saeki City History Museum is located in front of the Otemae bus stop of the Sausu liner from Oita Airport to Saeki Station, so it is easily accessible from Oita Airport. The site of the Saeki City History Museum is located where the Saeki Domain government office was located, and you can enter through the Sanfu Gate, a tangible cultural property designated by the city. In the garden of the History Museum, there is also a living room of the Mori family, a tangible cultural property designated by the city. The history of Saeki was exhibited in the space of Hiro 々 in the hall.

Stamps of Continuing 100 Japanese Castles are installed. Some of the feudal lord's residence is left.

Stamps of Continuing 100 Japanese Castles are installed at the reception. You can get a map and pamphlet of Saeki Castle here, so we recommend visiting before climbing Saeki Castle. Originally, this place was a feudal government office during the Edo period, and its gate remains. In addition, there was a mansion of the former feudal lord Mori family during the Meiji period, and some of them remain in the garden.

There is a charge as a history museum (admission is cheap), but it is a facility open to the public. You can learn about Saeki's history mainly in the Edo period. It was the government office of the Saeki domain in the Edo period and later became the residence of the Mori family in the Meiji period.

    I think it's a relatively well-maintained historical museum.

This time, Saeki Castle was posted in the sequel to the 100 famous castles in Japan, so I stamped it here and went home, but I came here on the second floor, and when I came last time, I visited the inside. I think it is a place where Saeki's historical materials are well compiled. It was interesting because it was a place in Oita Prefecture where I didn't know much about the early medieval period before the Edo period. You can also see the Mori family living room in the garden during the Edo period.
