Dahebei Sceneic Area

Dahebei Scenic Area is located in the southwest of Zhongshi Village, Zhonghang Town, Pingyuan County, Meizhou City, Guangdong Province, less than 10 kilometers away from the county seat. Here, the peaks are abrupt, the cliffs are steep, the mountains are clear and the water is beautiful, the mountains are green and the scenery is charming. Dahebei has many scenic spots, each of which is pleasing to the eye. Liu Jiangdong, the national master of the Ming Dynasty, wrote in "Wangzi Dragon and Yuzi Cave": There is a dragon on the Muhuang pile, and the unicorn in the sky is difficult to recognize. In front of the hall, it is like a sunflower, and a bright bow appears under the tomb. Three platforms and three pillars are inserted into the cave, and the Tianma flags and drums sound. The iron fan closes the door and presents jewels, and the top scholar's writing is in the clouds. The blessed people are buried, and their children and grandchildren are in the court for generations. The Dragon Mountain, Qilin Mountain, Sunflower Mountain, Tianma Mountain, Qishan Mountain, Gushan Mountain, and Tieshanguanmen mentioned in the poem are all natural landscapes here, and it is known as Little Guilin locally. On the way through Little Guilin, there are Ganlu Pavilion and Mei Pavilion built in the third year of Emperor Xianfeng's reign (1853 AD) beside the provincial road (Liangdan Highway). There are Fengshugang rock carvings beside the mountain road, which contain the Taiping Heavenly Kingdom Pingzuo row, each character is about 16.6 cm, and is inscribed in regular script. According to research, the stone carvings are relics left by the Taiping Heavenly Kingdom peasant uprising army when they were active in Pingyuan in the fourth year of Emperor Tongzhi's reign (1865 AD). They were listed as county-level cultural relics protection units in 1985. Yangdong River, about 2 kilometers away from the stone carvings, attracts tourists from all over the country with its clear river water and numerous caves.
