Mariposa Grove of Giant Sequoias is a Sequoia forest, called Sequoia, which seems to be unique to the West Coast of the United States. The tree is said to be the world's largest organism (the tallest is more than 100 meters), the oldest tree (three or four thousand years), and because it is not used (nothing but for dumplings), it survives very well. But the roots of this tree are very shallow and easy to collapse, so the trees are full of collapsed giant trees, one of which was called Fallen Monarch, which collapsed when it was discovered in 1899, and is still in its original shape, and the bare roots are like a big umbrella. In addition to the fallen ancient trees, there are a large number of blackened trunks, Yosemite in order to protect the big trees, every year to remove the small trees and shrubs below, may be due to artificial shortages, take the way of setting fire to the mountain. In this redwood forest, many giant trees have their own stories, their own characteristics, and their own names. For example, The Grizzly Giant It is estimated that the tree age is about 2700 years, the diameter of the branches is about two meters, and there is an ancient tree nearby, called California Tunnel Tree, is an internal hollow tree. A cavity formed at the base of the trunk, just in time for a tunnel. Bachelor and Three Graces can be translated as "a man and three ladies", in fact, a big tree and three small trees are connected, four trees are connected by root, and fate is connected. Walking among the tall ancient redwood trees, as if in the quiet woods of ancient times, The bottom of the footsteps of these thousand-year-old trees fall leaves make a squeak, quietly can hear the wind blowing through the branches and leaves, accompanied by the birds competing, it seems to experience the vicissitudes of the millennium history...

We spent hours here viewing the artifacts and ephemera, reading the interpretive placards, and pondering the region's history -- a worthwhile investment of our time.

Tenaya Lake, like a mirror, reflects the green hills around. The lake is very shallow and very cold. The lake is wide, probably because of the dry water period, many stones are exposed to the water, but add a lot of fun, the shore can be strolled, very comfortable. Although it is cold in winter, the sun in California is very bright. Throw a small stone and splash like pearls, but did not start a small fish, I don't know if it is cold or the water is clear and there is no fish. On the only way to Yosemite, it is worth staying.

Ranger Randy was great. He welcomed us and checked in on us constantly throughout our tour. He encouraged our son to try and complete the junior ranger handout (which he did). There was plenty to see, with all types of gemstones from around the world. There is part of an old mine shaft to walk through as part of the tour. Very educational and I would highly recommend it.
