Xide Forest

Xidelin, the full name of the monastery is called "Xide Ganden Sangdanlin Temple", which means the residence of four monks. The temple has not been repaired for the time being, and it is still a ruin, which can be seen from the intersection of Beijing. It is located near Beijing East Road, in an inconspicuous Tibetan compound to the west of Cemenlin Monastery. It is very ancient and is one of the four major forests in Lhasa. It was built in the Tubo Dynasty in the early 9th century AD, and was destroyed in 1947 when the fifth Rezhen Rinpoche was persecuted to death. Historically, the main buildings of Xidelin Temple include scripture hall, Buddhist hall, monk's house and monk's kitchen. The center of the temple is a square courtyard, with the Buddhist hall and scripture hall at the rear. The other three sides of the courtyard are monastic houses and monks' kitchens. The hall is 9 wide, 7 deep, and has 48 columns. There is a window in the middle that leads directly to the second floor. The four walls are decorated with colorful paintings. At the back of the scripture hall are three Buddhist halls side by side, with the main hall in the middle and the side halls on both sides. There are clay statues and painted murals in the original hall. In front of the gate of the scripture hall is an eaves corridor, with five rooms at three o'clock, and small rooms on both sides. The small room has stone steps leading to the second floor. There are more than 100 monasteries in the temple, all of which are Tibetan-style flat-roofed two-story buildings. Now the southwest corner of Bujing Hall has collapsed.
