| Unique Experience, Recommended for You Planning to Visit Dazhao Temple in June! 🔥The incense at Dazhao Wuliang Temple in Hohhot, the capital of Inner Mongolia, is really booming! If you happen to pass by here like me, be sure to visit this Tibetan Buddhist temple beyond the Great Wall!
📍Dazhao Wuliang Temple on Alatan Khan Square |
Dazhao Temple in Hohhot is located on Alatan Khan Square in the city center. This shows the great historical significance of Dazhao Temple in Hohhot. Alatan Khan is the founder of Hohhot, so the square in front of Dazhao is also called Alatan Square.
🏯The Ancient Architecture of Dazhao Temple | 4A Scenic Area
Dazhao Temple is a Han-Tibetan style Gelug Buddhist temple that has been repaired several times, reflecting the complex relationship between the Manchu, Mongolian, and Han peoples. Therefore, the architecture within the temple includes the interlaced eaves of royal buildings with glazed tiles, as well as the traditional features of Tibetan Buddhism, and it also integrates the nomadic culture of the Mongols beyond the Great Wall.
🍀Inside the main hall, the Mahavira Hall, there is a silver Buddha, which is the main Buddha of Dazhao Wuliang Temple. Photography is not allowed inside the hall, but you can get a stamp.
The layout of the entire temple is very complete, including the mountain gate, the Hall of Heavenly Kings, the Mahavira Hall, as well as the Nine-Room Hall and the Sutra Collection Pavilion.
🌼Unique Decorations Inside Dazhao Temple |
➰Thangkas, prayer flags, vajra knots, prayer wheels, and gesang flowers, all of which are characteristic of Tibetan Buddhist temples.
➰In front of the mountain gate, there is a unique horse sculpture, symbolizing the important meaning of 'horse hooves striking the ground, springs gushing forth.'
➰Inscriptions in Manchu, Mongolian, and Han languages are mixed throughout.
➰The plaques of the main hall and side halls are very much worth admiring.
➰Golden discs, the round golden discs on Tibetan-style buildings symbolize the sun, and are found in Tibetan Buddhist temples across the country, including many at Dazhao Temple.
➰White pama grass, a special Tibetan building material, last seen at the Potala Palace, and now at Dazhao Temple.
✅Experiences Available at Dazhao Temple |
〰-Listening to chanting, which is very worthwhile and solemn, located in the main hall.
〰-Requesting prayer beads, Dazhao Temple allows for the requesting of prayer beads, and they can be consecrated.
〰-Turning prayer wheels, which are on both sides of the main hall.
〰-Burning incense, there is a specific process for requesting and offering incense, available in the shops on both sides as you enter.
〰-Fortune telling, which is done in the main hall, with fortune interpretation in the Sutra Collection Pavilion.
〰-Travel photography, there are many travel photography shops at the entrance of Dazhao Temple, which are legitimate stores. I personally recommend wearing the 'tall hat' style, which looks more solemn in front of the Shakyamuni Eight Stupas at the entrance of Dazhao Temple, and also makes for great photos.

Dazhao Temple in Hohhot, beautiful architectural structure, staggered light and shadow, exquisite craftsmanship, plus blue sky and white clouds, is a blockbuster. As the earliest Tibetan Buddhist Gelu temple in the architectural era of Inner Mongolia, Dazhao Temple was revered as the "Huang Temple" in the Qing Dynasty. Because Emperor Shunzhi of Qing Dynasty had stayed here, Emperor Kangxi also lived here for a few days, and cast a plaque of "Long live the emperor" for the silver Buddha statue in the hall, in order to show respect for the emperor, and since then the reincarnation regulations of the living Buddha have been cancelled here. It has become a rare temple in Mongolia without living Buddhas, and the main temple of the temple has been replaced with yellow glazed tiles. #Little Don't Look at the World #Inner Mongolia
Booked tickets on Trip.com, and almost went in without a ticket at the entrance of the attraction. This temple belongs to Tibetan Buddhism, and you need to appreciate it with your understanding of culture. It is recommended to find an explanation. In short, it is worth a visit.
By chance, I came to Hohhot and searched for the Dazhao Wuliang Temple here. It is the same source as the Beijing Lama Temple, but it is earlier than it! The silver like the bronze dragon mural, it is really beautiful, and I am breathtaking. Finally, I will push it. The fragrant gray glass here is perfect. The price is too high.
The attitude of the staff is more perfunctory, and don't be impatient to be a gate, which affects the experience of tourists. I don't know what kind of face I want to see to understand her. Is it not easy? It’s only 9 o’clock. If you can understand the tour guide in the evening, the explanation is very detailed. Combining historical materials, people feel immersive.
Dazhao Temple is the earliest Huangjiao monastery in Hohhot and a Buddhist holy place with wide influence in Mongolia. It is not only a precious material for studying Mongolian history and religious culture, but also known for its unique "Zhao Temple Culture".
I didn’t open the door during the epidemic. I did it today. The exquisite murals, silver Buddha, and gold tile red walls are so beautiful.
