Temple of Literature Hanoi 🕍🇻🇳
#vietnamtrip
Temple of Literature is a Confucian temple 🛕 building located on the south side of the capital city of Thang Long. It was built in 1070 and became Vietnam's 🇻🇳first university 🎓. Walking past Kuiwen Pavilion, you can see Tianguang Well, which is also known as Wen Lake. The square well symbolizes the earth, and the round Kuewenko symbolizes the sky, which means that the essence of heaven and earth is concentrated in the cultural and educational center.
There are 82 Jinshi stone tablets on both sides of the Tianguang Well, which are divided into two rows to form a forest of tablets, recording the names and hometowns of 1306 Jinshi (the 82nd imperial examination from 1442 to 1779). Below each Jinshi Stele is a stone turtle, symbolizing longevity. After viewing the forest of steles, walk through the Dacheng Gate and enter the Dacheng Hall, where the sacred images of Confucius and his four outstanding students are enshrined. After strolling through the Dacheng Hall, we arrived at the Imperial Academy, where the first principal of the Confucian Temple, Master Zhu Wen'an, was enshrined.

Temple of literature is the place where Vietnamese pupils often go to pray for success in their high school graduation and university entrance exams. The temple was free before, but since there are many exhibitions and events are held here, you need to buy tickets to go inside. You can also go there to ask for/buy calligraphy for the words of your choice as well.
Temple of Literature in Hanoi, VietnamThe place is really nice and a lot of historical facts to be learned. Downside was there were a lot of people as it was the last day of Tet holiday and it's Sunday as well. Would definitely visit again, when there are less people to enjoy the place even more. ☺️
Probably need 1.5 hour to explore this place. Need to take grab to this location from Old Quarters. Can buy tickets on the spot. Learnt about the history and importance of education.
it has gone through lots of repair. unfortunately there was not much of explanation
