Black Spruce Dog sledding...OMG! The highlight of my 3 week trip to Alaska. These Iditarod dogs are unbelievable and the real thing! Friendly, rambunctious, affectionate and all with really cool personalities. Probably the biggest single reason for their happiness are their owners and caretakers, Jeff and Katti. The attention and focus they give their dogs…unreal. They love them for sure and it shows with how the Alaskan Huskies return their affection. The pups could not wait for us to get to them to pet them. All super happy being rubbed down. It was surprising how well mannered they are. No nipping, no pulling on your clothes, not at all mouthy. What was really cool is how ecstatic they got when they realized they were going to be attached to the sled...Jumping and barking and whining to get going. Unreal! Such happy animals. Definitely treated Jeff, the owner, with deference. It's clear he's the alpha dog and they know it. And of course they love him for it. Jeff scooped one of them up at one point, hung him upside down rubbing and loving on him and the dog just let him with no squirming or complaint…very cool. I highly recommend you visit this operation. Katti took us into the small area with 10 week old (I think that old) puppies…OMG! We couldn’t get enough of them. I was lucky that a female attached herself to me and I was able to hold her the whole time we were in the pen. Geez, I’m getting myself all geared up to go back which I will definitely do my next time to Alaska. Thanks to all the pups and Katti and Jeff, you made my trip!!
