Hidden Gem of Beppu
Went in a drizzling day, but still very impressed by the monument and the two ancient trees! Different from the more well known shrines of Japan. This one is a little less polished. It was built 900+...
Beautiful and peaceful. The twin trees you walk though to enter are very powerful. The shrine sits at the bottom of the mountains creating aatmospheric essence to the experience.
It was a little difficult to understand even if I navigated by car in the back. There seemed to be more than 30 free parking lots. When I walked from the approach, there were two large sacred trees, and when I passed through them, I felt like a ritual and it was interesting. It was good that there was also a small cafe.
It was information that it was a shrine where you can get a red stamp, so I went by car (rental car). The location is a small hill overlooking the city of Beppu. The precincts are tight and make you feel mysterious. It was a weekday, but there were some worshipers visiting and I found out that it is a famous shrine in this area. This is a point you should visit once you go to Beppu.
Hachiman Asami Shrine was a shrine that I was glad I went to. There is also a masterpiece of sacred trees on the vast site, a building that makes you feel the so-called corner 々 full of greenery, and a shrine rooted in the area when you see local worshipers who visit constantly. Also because I did. I also saw a similar scene at Obihiro Shrine in Hokkaido in 2018. It is an event that made people feel the view of the shrine rooted in the region and loved by the shrine before going to work ...
