Stamford Plaza Melbourne

Latest booking 21 hrs ago

My husband and have stayed at The Stamford Plaza times many times over the years and have always loved it, but this was the first time bringing the kids, as we wanted to treat them to a special night out in the school holidays. PROS - The pool and spa were the highlight of our trip. After reading some previous reviews about the water being too cold we were a little concerned, but they were both absolutely wonderful. The pool area was clean and the pool was lovely and warm. The spa was perfect and HOT - just the way we love it. My children LOVED the glass elevator, this was a real thrill for them and they are already asking when we can go back to go in it again. We did meet some lovely staff during our stay, and check in and check out was fast and easy. The room was nice and clean. There is absolutely no view of the city lights (we were looking out onto a wall) but this is just due to the location and can't be helped. The central location is fantastic. CONS - No valet - I'm sure this was a service that used to be offered in the past? Our bags took nearly 2 hours to be delivered to our room, and this was time wasted that we were planning on heading out to explore the city. They only arrived after several follow up calls asking how much longer they would be. We only had 2 towels (and no robes) in our bathroom, even though our booking was for a family of 4. When our bags arrived, we asked the gentleman to please provide 2 more towels for the kids but they never came. We ended up needing to take 2 extra towels from the pool area back to our room. Our 'Indulgence Package' included a bottle of wine which we were told would be brought up to the room. This also never came and I needed to ask for it upon checking out. The real let down though was the buffer breakfast, which was included in our package. We have stayed at many 4 and 5 star hotels and this was possibly the worst breakfast we have come across - I wouldn't even rate it a 2. The coffee machine was broken, and there was no service asking if we would like a fresh tea or coffee. My son had the pancakes (pre-made sitting out with the bread) and he said they tasted stale and crumbled in his mouth. The hot food (eggs, bacon, tomato, hash brown) were all stone COLD - not even luke warm. I considered asking if they could pop my plate into the microwave to heat them up but lost my appetite wondering how long it had been just sitting out there. And the fresh fruit was dry and looked like it had been sitting out a long time. I wish we hadn't taken take package with breakfast included, as we could have had a hot breakfast for much less $$ from the McDonalds just around the corner. Our package also included late check out to 12 noon however our keys did not allow us entry back in after 11am. OVERALL - We would stay at the Stamford again however I think they need to advertise it for what it truly is - a 4 star hotel. We have stayed at many 5 star hotels in Melbourne such as Crown Towers, the Langam and the H

Brady Apartment Hotel Hardware Lane

CBD Melbourne|0.27km from downtown
I stay in hotels A LOT! But except for one other occasion, I've never bothered to leave reviews. But this place is one of the more questionable hotels I've stayed at for several reasons. The hotel: - they charged my credit card the full fee a day BEFORE I checked in. They have a 24 hr cancellation period with minimal one night charge yet they still took it upon themselves to charge me before I actually checked in - very unethical - they want a photo of government issued ID. Weird, with all the crazy data breaches occurring, it's recommended private entities DO NOT store this unnecessary data, yet they still expected a copy. I didn't provide it, just let them sight it upon check in - the pics used to promote the apartments are stretched out and misleading. The actual apartment is small, very small if you consider the costs incurred - photos online make it look like there is a bathtub, (and when I called the hotel to check, the person I spoke to told me there was a bathtub) but there actually isn't any which is VERY inconvenient when travelling with a companion who can only use a tub (for accessibility reasons) - they don't do housekeeping every day. You can ask for fresh towels but goodluck getting a vacuum or dirty bin emptied. The actual apartment - there is no ducted air conditioning. On a hot day (was 35° when I checked in) I needed to blast the AC at 18° (we froze in the living area) just so cool air can seep into the bedroom and cool it down so we can sleep - the actual apartment was very dirty. Tiles had previous occupants hair on the floor, carpet is stained in multiple locations, glass doors and outside balcony railing dirty with hand prints and smudges - minimal crockery and cutlery provided. Only one drinking glass provided - no tea towel provided - phone in room not set up. Had to call reception from my mobile to report issues - oddly there are very few electrical ports in the living area. Difficult to charge devices - there is no shelving in the wardrobe, and it's difficult to tidy anything up or pack things away. Only one storage shelf and you need a ladder to access it - the railing for the wardrobe is so high, one needs to be over 7 foot to use it - to access the bathroom, one needs to go through the bedroom so it's really hard to have one person stay up while another sleeps - the bathroom doesn't have a drain so any access water needs to be mopped with the towels to avoid a slip hazard (problematic as they only give you 2 towels and don't do daily room service) - there are NO clothes hooks in the bathroom The positives: Overall the staff were pleasant and friendly. Every staff member I spoke to in person was hospitable, helpful and very kind. The blockout blinds were good and the sound proofing was great. They also accommodated late check out. I felt very disappointed as I travel to Melbourne monthly and was very disappointed to pay premium costs for accommodation but get what I consider inadequate facilities. I'd only recommend s

Park Hyatt Melbourne

Park Hyatt Good location - close to Collins Street and Parliament Station. The surrounding environment is mostly historical buildings. Front desk staff provides detailed check-in instructions upon arrival. The hotel is currently under renovation and there was some noise in the room. There are breakfast service and food quality issues. The wait time for restaurant registration was a bit long. I ordered two fried eggs - well cooked and my wife ordered an omelet. - The chef was asked for the table number, unfortunately, there was no number displayed on our table, and no one told us the table number when we first arrived at the restaurant. So we told the chef and we'll get the eggs ourselves. We went back to our table and we asked a waitress for our table number - it was number 40. My wife went to the cooking station, picked up her omelet and gave the chef our table number. My hard-boiled omelette is still cooking. I then walked over to the cooking station to pick it up myself. The chef told me that he had already made the omelette and his colleague had gone to deliver it to me. I turned around to look at my table, I saw a waitress prowling around with a plate, I quickly walked up to her. I looked at the plate (two fried eggs - well cooked) and I informed her that's what I ordered but the waitress said it wasn't what I ordered. I told her I just got back from the cooking station and the chef told me about the omelette, it's on your tray. But she said the omelet was not mine, she didn't listen to me, she didn't believe what I told her. But I saw her go to another table in the lower dining area (because I was assigned to sit in the top dining area), and gave the two fried eggs to someone else, (how many guests would order the same two hard fried eggs this morning Egg?). That guest and family didn't seem to order it, and they looked very confused when they received two hard fried eggs. After a while, the same waitress brought us twice an omelette that was cooked outside and undercooked, which was not what we ordered. I walked over to the cooking station and the chef talked. The chef was grumpy and kept repeating that he asked the staff to bring the eggs to my table. The restaurant manager was there and I asked the chef to calm down and please allow me to explain what happened. The restaurant manager said it was just a matter of table numbers. I have expressed my opinion and hope the restaurant will improve better communication skills and customer experience. This restaurant does not have a table number on any table. I had left the restaurant to make a phone call outside the building, and my wife continued to eat breakfast in the restaurant. After talking to the restaurant manager before I left the restaurant, the waiter brought another omelette to my table again - (I already told the restaurant manager that I have to run errands, please don't make more omelettes, I don't want to waste food). In my opinion, some of the staff in the restaurant lacked staff training, and the chef was impatient and irritable when I tried to explain what happened the first time. After speaking with the restaurant manager, I fully understand that she first found a very legitimate reason in a perfunctory way - showing indifference. She is very considerate of the staff, not the customers, so it might be difficult to improve this restaurant in this way. It's not a matter of table numbers, but of presentation and attitude. - From the whole process of registering for meals to leaving, only 3 stars can be given - the above rating criteria come from their attitude and behavior - the whole process cannot reach the Park Hyatt level. And the quality of breakfast is not very good. Before checking out today, I had spoken to the front desk manager about what happened above and hoped he would pass this on to the hotel management team. The best thing about this hotel is - old doorman - 5 star attitude and behavior. Warm and friendly! After the mess, the old man's smile and caring made us feel like it was going to be another good day.

OK it has not good reviews and looks pretty shabby outside. But this place was very pleasant to stay at. $90 for a night and the bed was comfy, very quiet, big spacy room (no 5), very clean, great modern look with appliances, situated in good location. Service on check in was very friendly. Plenty of secure parking. Definitely stay again. Only negative was the water pressure was so slow. That's all

I just checked in today and it’s good for the price, the hotel receptionist Sarah was lovely and kept me well informed. I’m staying for 3 days and everything seems to be in shape. I read a review detailing hotel guest with drug problems, it’s a MOTEL you are going to get good and bad and everything in between in any of these places. There’s drug addicts at the five seasons difference is that they can afford it. Lol

I had my own kitchen with its cutlery (dishes, forks, knives, cups...). Also there was a microwave in the laundry room which was very useful when I wanted to heat my takeaway food. I loved that in the bathroom next t the sink there were hand wash and face lotion and in the shower there were shampoos, conditioners, body wash, which were provided abundantly. It was also for a very affordable price, less than $80/a night. It was also clean. Not to mention that I was not pressured to leave by the check out team and I didn't get a call reminding me to leave but the staff were very friendly and polite and waited until I left a couple of minutes after the checkout time. A really pleasant stay!

The hotel room is not big enough to add an extra bed. I accompanied my daughter to study at the University of Melbourne. The front desk service was good. The little girl at the restaurant asked if the morning was sweet! Breakfast is ok, often encounter some stewardess to eat breakfast in the morning! The hotel location is relatively close to the University of Melbourne, the tram stop is at the door, it is very convenient to get to CITY! There are parking spaces along the road!

It's only a minute's walk from the subway station. There are many bathrooms and Internet access. There is a coffee street nearby and a shopping mall is a five-minute walk away. You can stay here again next time!
